Q:Without a neutral gear how do you move tiller without taking all day. My old pony moves very slow when engaged.

    Answer This Question

A:  Hello Keng. For the Troy-Bilt Pony 16 in. 250 cc OHV Briggs and Stratton Engine Rear Tine Forward Rotating Gas Garden Tiller, you would move the neutral ENGAGE/DISENGAGE lever to the DISENGAGE position. This allows the wheels to rotate freely. Thank you for your question.

Q:Does this machine have more than one speed?

      Answer This Question

A:  This unit does not have multiple speeds, the speed of the transmission as well as the times are governed solely by engine speed. The faster the engine speed, everything else follows.

        Excellent Tiller
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Excellent Tiller! Perfect for my smaller garden. Easy to handle and maneuver in smaller places. The backward feature is a plus. It's very well built and tills great.

        Easy and powerful
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This tiller has made my gardening life so much easier! I am a 5’ 5” female and I am able to completely be independent with this tiller! Easy to start, maneuver, and works the ground nicely! Work smarter not harder!

        Troy Bilt Pony
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the second Troy Bilt Pony model that I have owned. My first one was a work horse and served me well for 28 years. My new model does not have the electric start. However, my new one starts with one pull. So far, my new tiller is performing quite well in the rocky soil on my property, running a close race with my original Pony model. For a 67 year old, 4’10”, 80 lb female, my new Pony is everything I hoped for.

Very cheap built compared to older Troybuilt tiller. Will not dig up hard pack soils. Would never buy again and they are not cheap priced.

Somewhere during shipment or receiving, the box was badly mangled and the tiller was bent. It wasn't until I got it home that I realized how bent it was. As a result, about 4 hours of my time was wasted and Home Depot lost a sale.

The tiller was ordered & sent to Home Depot for assembly. Upon arriving there it kept getting lost in their assembly dept. Twice I was advised that the product was ready for pick up only to get there & have them advise me they couldn't find it & later tell me it had noy been assembled yet. Once I got it product works great.

When I received the tiller the transmission would not disengage, it was repaired under warranty, but it was a disappointing lack of quality control. Otherwise works as expected.

Controls are easy to use, motor has plenty of power. Adding oil is a real pain and there is no dip stick. One month.

The drag post was installed backwards. Factory assembly defect. Forward rotating tines made unit very hard to control. Returned in favor of unit with counter rotating tines. I didn’t realize the huge difference that made.
