Questions & Answers

How do I justify the price

A gallon would be over $24
Asked by: Sam1
You can't, it's a racket. The "gallon" can is really 0.85 of a gallon, and it just went from $20 to $22 at my (name brand yard tool) dealer, so that's $25.50/gal, or roughly 7x the traditional mix. My (name brand) hedge trimmer has been running nicely the old way for 10 years by just running it dry at season's end. There are real advantages of both convenience and purity, so $10 a "gallon" could look pretty attractive, but it gets to be like the six-bladed safety razor (corporate motto: "Because some people will buy ANYTHING").

Can this be used in lawnmowers? The rep at Home Depot said yes but my mower has the gas and oil separate.

Asked by: Rodrig506
You have to get the TruFuel that is gas only, not an oil/gas mixture. Not worth it I don't think. Use a product like Stabil and add to your gas.

I HAVE A POULAN PRO 2CYCLE LEAF BLOWER 40:1 MIXTURE. CAN I USE TRI FUEL IN IT?

Asked by: seabeesam6869
Use the mix that is recommended. DO NOT USE 50 TO 1 IN A 40 TO 1 MACHINE AS MENTIONED BY ANOTHER POST. 50 to 1 does NOT have more oil than 40 to 1 mix. IT HAS LESS. 50 parts gas to 1 part oil. is less oil than 40 parts gas to 1 part oil.

Snowblower

Can I use this on an Arien's 28 compact snowblower?
Asked by: Todd
I had the same question. I have a 20-year-old Yard Man snow blower with a Tecumseh engine that say 50:1 right on the fuel tank cap. I'm getting tired of playing "Joe Chemist' and mixing the oil and gas together every winter. I never tried TruFuel, but am seriously thinking about using it from now on if it'll work in my snow blower. Looks like it will.

It's certainly not cheap but I have never had a single issues starting any 2 cycle when using this stuff. And for someone in his 60's, yanking that rope over and over again gets to be an issue. Not with this stuff-one pull while set on choke then a second at half choke and you are ready to cut, trim till or whatever you need to get done. If time is money, perhaps it's not priced so badly after all.

You get easier starts, more power and smoother running 2-cycle machine. I use it for trimmer and leaf blower. It is expensive so if you use lots of gas during the season, the cost might be prohibitive. If I use lots, then I mix my own with a stabilizer and run this at the end of the season to clean out the ethanol fuel. However, I tend to use this most of the time since it avoids costly carburetor repairs and tuneups.

This product is very good, been using it for 2 years now and have been very pleased. I have no problem with starting my equipment after sitting all winter. Of course it is expensive. I try and buy it only when I find it on sale. The best prices I have found is at Home Depot. You would think that buying a case of 6 would always be cheaper, however this time it was cheaper to buy 6 individual cans rather than the 6-pack...you have to watch.

No mixing oil and gas, etc. I first purchased this on a Home Depot daily online special and have been buying this ever since. I hope it comes up again soon as a daily special because if you do not open the can, it has a 5 year shelf life. After opening, you have 2 years to use this. Well worth the money!!

I prefer to do most of my own yard work and find that Trufuel meets a shelf life and reliability need. The way I heard about it is round about. I have owned a Stihl chain saw that I use on rare occasion. Stihl sells a competitive product called "Motomix" at about $10 per quart. After replacing the chainsaw carburetor, $10 was tolerable. I also own a mini tiller by Mantis. When I called them they recommended Trufuel for their tiller. At a Home Depot price of about $5.40/bulk rate I bought six cans and put it in my 2 cycle backup generator. How reliable is the local power company?? Well, Edison failed us last week for five hours and Trufuel in our $90 generator ran like a champ providing a minimum service (TV, lights and fans). When will Edison fail us again? Yes, if the failure is lengthy I would switch to my "home mixed" 50:1 fuel that has a shorter shelf life at a better price.

Ok, so I tried TruFuel 50:1 in my 20-year-old snow blower and I gotta say that it made quite the improvement in the blower's overall operation and performance. After the snow blower burned off what gas/oil mix was still left in the carburetor and the TruFuel kicked in, the engine sounded so much better and it started on the first pull. I would say this product lives up to what it says it is suppose to do.

Previously I used what was supposed to be "ethanol free" gasoline only to ruin the carburetor as the gasoline was not ethanol free. Now I use this fuel and although it costs more not having to worry about ruining another expensive carburetor is worth it!
