Questions & Answers

How do I justify the price

A gallon would be over $24
Asked by: Sam1
I'm justifying it this way. 1. I have a weed whacker that I ran one tank through last season. 2. I no longer have a gas can 3. the cost of a gas can, plus gas, plus the oil is about 3 of these. Meaning I can go for about 3 years before I hit that "more cost effective to buy a gas can" but only if I don't count the waste of getting rid of old gas. If I count that it goes out to probably 4 or 5 years. 4. In 3 years I want to switch over to electric so I don't have to deal with it anymore. So for me it makes sense to just get this instead of the hassle of buying a new gas can and wasting most of a gallon ever year.

Can I use this in my Toro CCR 3650 6.5Hp 2 cycle snow blower?
Asked by: Bev
Yes you can. It'll be expensive. For 'gas guzzlers', I buy ethanol-free gasoline [preferably 92+ octane] and dose it with the oil myself.

Customer Reviews

Trufuel 50:1 Pre-mixed Fuel + Oil is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 684.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Product This stuff is amazing. I bought 1 can at home depot to try in my small 2 cycle engines. As for the past 15-20 years of mixing my own gas and oil, this stuff has a shelf life of 5 years (2 after opening). I was amazed to see the difference in my equipment performance (Stihl String Trimmer-Stihl Hedge Trimmers- Stihl blower and a poulan pro chain saw) The fuel does not go bad after a few weeks of sitting in the shed, as per my mixed gas and oil. To me I always bought one gallon of 93 octane gas at the local gas station and mixed one of the little bottles of oil with it. I always had difficulty starting all my 2 cycle engines and keeping them running. With this stuff, I have no problems, and every piece of equipment starts with minimal effort, and stay running. I use these tools for my own yard as for I do not have a business in landscaping. I just wish the price was a little lower. As of now I buy the 6 pack box, and sometime I get them at a discount from home depot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Economical in the long run I picked up a couple of cans of Trufuel 50:1 premix at the same time that I bought my new Echo PB-250LN gas blower at Home Depot in order to start out on the right foot and avoid future problems with my 2-stroke power tool. It seems that there are increasing problems with 2-stroke engines that are caused by ethanol in gas, even when using additives such as Sta-Bil. I use this blower sparingly, and expect to consume at most 2 quart cans of TruFuel per year, which will only cost me about $5 more per year than mixing my own gas and oil, and is well worth avoiding the possibility of costly repairs and running problems. So far I have used my blower three times, and it has started easily and run cleanly each time. The motor runs strongly and revs quickly to full speed. There is absolutely no visible exhaust smoke and almost no discernible exhaust odors. After shutdown, there is no visible oil or carbon in the muffler, and no gas vapors. I am very pleased with this product, and feel that it is well worth the added cost over mixing gas and oil.

This product is amazing -- if you are old enough to remember when cars had carburetor you will also remember how you had to pour some high potency stuff (what I cannot remember the name) directly into the carburetor to get the engine to kick over. Gasoline clogs the lines and the spark plug and you have to drain the tank at end of season. Previously, after putting gas in the tank, annually I yank, and yank, and yank on the pulley before the snow blower would kick over. In the spring of 2018, I had the local shop do maintenance on my 5 year old snow blower and I asked them how to prevent clogging in the future. It was they that told me about TruFuel 50:1. They put a quart in the tank during maintenance and there was about 3/4 of that quart remaining when I picked up the unit. They told me it can stay in the tank all year long and will the engine will kick over on 1st pull. This winter, I was prepared to wrench my shoulder again trying to get the unit started. But it kicked over on the 1st pull. So, I went out and bought 6 cans of this 50:1. It isn't cheap $6.00 a quart when compared to a $2.50 gallon of gas But it works and I strongly recommend this product. Go out and buy this. This 2 stroke 50:1 can be used on lawn mowers too. But go get it and save your arm and expensive annual maintenance.

It does not contain ethanol, which is preferred because ethanol has a short shelf-life. I think the price is high for the amount you get which brings the overall value down, which is why I gave this 4 stars instead of 5. If I know that I will using my chainsaw a lot, I will mix my own fuel (in 1 gallon batches). I use this fuel as my backup when I am out of my own mixed fuel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Long Mixing This is great stuff, long gone are the days of mixing oil and gas. This product makes it so easy and much cleaner. It comes in a steel can and pours easily directly into your equipment. I use this in all of my two stroke engines and they work great. While it’s more expensive I find it is completely worth the extra cost. Not only is it a superior product its also more convenient.

It's a little pricy, but worth the convenience of having fresh, stable, non-ethanol premix on hand for the very occasional use of my Ryobi chain saw. I keep a couple cans on hand, especially during hurricane season. I also use the 40:1 version for my older saw. Both products allow quick east starting and take the guess work out of proper mixing for 2-cycle engines.

Even though this fuel is expensive in comparison to marine gasoline, its worth the cost not having stale gas damaging the carb on my snowblower. 32oz is plenty for one winter of snowblowing and I wont have a large amount of fuel sitting around going stale. Well worth the cost.
