1.5 in. - 1.75 in. Drain Protector Hair Catcher in Chrome

Looks like we finally have a solution to keep hair from clogging up our drains. This new tub Shroom fits inside standard tub drains and the loose hairs wrap around the center area, for simple cleaning up later on. I wish it would go in further than it does, but I also understand the reasoning as to increased water flow/drainage. Mine has been in there for a week now, and even caught hair during my tub cleaning chores that had been caught under the safety mat. The product is well designed, and also well packaged and includes complete instructions and detail as to it's functionality.  A closer fit would be my only request as to any modifications. It stands up out of the drain by 1/2 to 1 inch, and will not fit any better. Time will tell if I decide to buy additional Shrooms. 

The drain protector hair catcher was delivered in good condition. This is flexible plastic on top hard chrome plastic. Installation is unpack the product and put in the shower drain. In my bath tub sower drain it is almost 3/4" higher. Due to more high it is not looking that good, but work fine to catch the hair. I cleaned one time and cleaning is easy. My one is good working condition.

The Tub Shroom is awesome! Its a great way to catch hair but still let water drain. We have to clean ours out about every week. But the regular use and emptying of the tub shroom means that we haven't had to snake our shower drain since we've started using it. This particular tub shroom blends well with bathroom fixtures. We upgraded to this shroom from the standard all white plastic looking one and although we thoroughly enjoyed the function of the original shroom this one delivers on appearances and function.

The tub shroom is wonderful! We have been using these for a few months. We replaced our old one with a new one, mostly because it was getting gunky and gross. The shroom stops all hair from going down the drain. You can easily clean it by using toilet paper or a tissue, then simply replace it back in the tub. After a few days, depending on how many showers and how much hair your household loses, you will have to clean the catcher but other than that it is simple to set it and go on with your day.

I’ve been using the TubShroom for over a year now and I absolutely recommend it. I don’t know if it in fact catches every single hair, but it does a very good job in catching most, especially the longer ones. Depending on the drain, it may sit almost all the way in or about an inch of it popping out of the drain – either way is normal. The water drains through all the small holes just fine and the lip on the bottom catches the hair. I do clean it every few days. The cleanup couldn’t be any simpler. Take it out and wipe the hair away with nearby toilet paper. Then drop it back into the drain and let do its magic. It is made of some soft rubber which maintains the shape and makes it easy to clean. Overtime, some build up does occur, but some soapy water and an old toothbrush does the trick. Again, I’ve had mine for over a year and it hasn’t corroded or discolored. As far as the water draining through it, that depends on the water flow.. When I just got this hair catcher, it did seem to block the water flow a bit. However I had a high flow shower and handheld running together. Now, I have a new more efficient handheld shower with 1.75 GPM flow and the access water drains just fine without any backup. The Chrome one looks the nicest and has a semi-clear soft rubber body with a Chrome cap on top. I just got a few more Tubshrooms in different colors as gifts. I can definitely recommend this hair catcher for any tub with a 1.5” drain. The diameters are about: 1.75” wide for the bottom ring, while the top is 2.25”. The whole TubShroom is 2” tall.

You should get a couple. I already have the original version of the Tub Shroom and the difference is that the bottom section is a little wider but the material used is not a heavy duty as the original, The upside is that this new version has a metal plate that is removable. When in place you can either keep the holes open or closed. I found that when the holes are closed, the tub is water tight and you can fill the tub and keep the hair catcher in place. Cleaning up the caught hair is simple with a tissue.

The Tub Shroom is a useful product and an innovative solution to easily clean up hair and other large debris to prevent them from clogging the drain. Installation of the product is very easy. However, the most difficult part is removing the existing drain plug as most of them are a threaded install and the process of removing it can be different for different tubs. Once the old plug is removed, installing the Tub Shroom is as easy as pushing it in. The product is well designed. However, the cylinder that goes in the drain is made of soft rubbery material, possibly silicone. So it's squishy if you step on the plug. This may be good or bad depending on your preference. I would have preferred it to be of a stiffer material. The top of the plug is chrome plated plastic, and I would have liked it to be metal or something more durable. Not sure how long the chrome finish will hold up to daily use. This is the only real negative in my opinion. Overall the Tub Shroom works as intended and solves the problem of clogged drains due to hair getting caught on the drain plug. This product makes it very easy to remove any hair caught in it.

This product helps a lot if your like me and hair keeps stopping up your tub drain. I was using draino or using one of those big zip tie looking things to unclog the drain atleast once a week, but not now. This thing catches all the hair and is easy to clean off. Make sure your tub has the small grid or x shaped metal in the bottom or the tubshroom will push all the way in the drain and only drain from the four holes in the top and won’t catch hair. Product works exactly the way it’s supposed to! Built extra sturdy and looks great with the chrome top.

It's called a Tubshroom and it is the best small invention to come along in ages! If you're one like me who hates cleaning out the hair in your drain with the needle nose pliers or hemostats, this is the answer. It fits snuggly in your tub drain catching 95% of hair. Once used just pull it out, clean it off with a tissue, rinse it off and replace for the next shower. Variety of colors to choose from.

Easy to install and works great. I wish they came in more colors like bronze etc
