Q:My installation area is on a slight incline. Do you level the base? What do you level with?
by|Oct 25, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Tuff Shed will level up to 4" and anything after that will be an additional cost depending on how many inches the incline is. The leveling would be done with wooden shims and concrete blocks.

Q:It says the installers need 18" clearance but I need this right against a wall

    Answer This Question

A:  Hi Momo, the installers would need 18" clearance around the site to build. If you would like the shed to be moved into place after installation is completed, please order from homedepot.com/tuffshed and on the job details you can specify this need.

          Satisfaction with build
I purchased a 12’x 24’’ shed. I did have one small delay on delivery, was not a problem. Once the builders began, the construction went very quickly and much to my satisfaction. I am very pleased with the process and this company...

Overall I’m pleased with the 8’ x 12’ Tuff Shed Tahoe shed I purchased. It is well built. I have no doubt it will still be in good shape 30 years from now if maintained and properly painted. The crew that installed it did so quickly and efficiently, so no complaints there. I recommend placing your new shed on a concrete pad. I do have a couple issues. These issues are due to manufacture prior to delivery. I’ll try to explain in a manner that is understandable. Referring to the attached photographs should clarify. The inner door frame, specifically the 2 x 4 where the door hinges are attached was slightly warped, bowing outward toward the door. This created a binding situation upon closing the door. The siding on the door butts up against this warped 2 x 4 upon closing the door. So, when closing the door the siding would hit the 2 x 4 approximately 5” prior to the door being fully closed. It took a little force to close the door and in doing so this put a lot of stress on the hinges. The metal door catch that is installed for the door latch to hook onto when the door is closed was installed in a position to assist in alleviating the stress that was created due to the warped 2 x 4 (mentioned earlier). Due to the catch placement there was nearly a ½” gap created in which the door was unable to be snugly close on the handle side (possibly creating a rodent/pest issue). To alleviate this I had to trim 3/16” off the inner door siding on the hinge side (mentioned above). After trimming the 3/16” and adjusting the door catch properly the door fit perfectly. When adjusting the door catch I felt it was necessary to place a plastic spacer between the door frame and the catch as the door latch was not overlapping the catch by very much. The following is just my preference and what I chose to do. I used some L shaped aluminum for a drip strip. Be sure to apply caulking to the backside to prevent water leaking. Also used was plastic stripping for the gaps around the door to prevent water from entering. I live in the Pacific North West (lots of rain). Would I recommend Tuff Shed….yes. When you consider other sheds that you purchase do not include installation and typically do not come with roofing, this makes Tuff Shed well worth it.

Lets talk about the shed - it is all OSB product (chipped wood). The floor does have a plastic or epoxy coating which helps. Overall, I like the shed. The company - I ordered this with the "DBL 3/4" treated floor". They came to install/assemble the shed onsite and I asked them about the double 3/4" floor, the guy said it was there. They put it together and I signed off on it - I had a contractor there installing a new A/C so my attention was divided and the the guy gave me an oral confirmation that all was there. All is good, right? well, not exactly. When I drilled a hole in the floor for the dehumidifier drain, I found that the floor is not the dual 3/4" floor but a single 5/8" floor (I sent them a picture). They were adamant that they don't have 5/8" and the 3/4" is not actually 3/4" (it is dimensional), for an OSB product - it should be a full 3/4" in my view. They said that the double floor entry was in an odd place in the order and it was overlooked - I used their software to configure the shed and on the delivery ticket, it is on the second line so this does not hold water (in my view). The 5/8", I cannot tell you if it is their poor quality control, an oversight, or a rip off. They did come back and put in the second floor (11/16") but refused to either replace the original (have to remove the walls) or add two layers. To me, the loss of an 1/8" with the weight I am putting in the shed, could be an issue - if the frame buckles, I will call them back to repair. The way that they put the shed together, you cannot tell if it is a single or dual floor once assembled - so !!! If you get the shed, make should you check on the thickness of the floor before they assemble it. The material should be 3/4" but is probably 11/16" - if it is 5/8", tell them to stop and bring you a new floor before they put it together. You really need to watch them to do what they are supposed to do or you could pay the price.

I’m a DIY type of guy that was set on building my own shed but like many of us work and family time come before home projects. The wife convinced me to go with Tuff Shed. We had one at a previous home so we’re familiar with the quality. We ordered online Saturday morning, received the scheduling call on Monday and the shed was up by that Friday before noon. The installers were courteous and professional only taking 2 hours to assemble the 8x12 shed. I’m more than satisfied.

                        Very good
Looks great! Seems to be quality shed , for the price. Galvanized steel foundation joists, steel door frame. The installers came all the way from Baltimore to NJ, they were great! All done in 2.5 hours. Very polite, and cleaned the site like it was before they came (I think R&D or S&D Developers, not sure). I'm very happy with the purchase!
