Q:Are the cord protectors available in black or other colors? The green case doesn't blend with my (and most black and white) outdoor wire rope cable lines with LED string lights and clear/frosted bulbs.

Yes the Cord Protect can be a little tough to get closed the first time you install one. However, as you noticed it creates a very tight seal which is as you point out 'PERFECT"!

Protects against weather!

water in case
Been in back yard for 1 week. Opened and has considerable amount of water. Was used to seal RG59 on one end and RG8 on the other.

Hi Bass, thank you for reaching out. The Twist and Seal Cord Protect is designed to fit 14/16 gauge extension cords and is third party tested and rated as a NEMA type 3R enclosure. While the Cord Protect will provide some protection with smaller diameter cords, it is not designed or tested for a 20 gauge cord (size of a RG58). I purchased several of these to protect the white lights we have strung up on our fence. We keep the lights up year-round for evening ambiance as well as for the holidays. After replacing the fuses because they were getting wet and staying wet, I put these on the connections between the strings and since then, I have not had any fuses burn out. I am very happy with these. My only concern was the size, but I don’t notice them anymore.

Warning Dangerous
We purchased these to protect plugs for our Christmas decorations. I followed the instructions. All of the plugs were above ground. All were filled with water when the were opened. Luckily I cut the power before removing these. See attached photo.

Fantastic product.
I erect a lot of Christmas lights every year and have long had concerns about water causing a short where the extension cords/light strings connect to each other. I think that over the years we have lost several hundred dollars worth of 'outdoor' decorations because of water induced shorts/surges. Many of the cord protectors are not big enough to accommodate 2 3 prong plugs, at least until this product became available. It did take quite a few of these to protect all of the cord-to-cord connections but the result it almost waterproof, certainly having the ability to protect from rain and sprinklers. They also give your decorations a professionally installed appearance. I'm very happy with these so far, but only having started using them I do not know yet about durability. The closures are not hinged, rather having a thinner thickness of plastic that flexes and bends.

Dont worry about the hinges, they are thin so they stay flexable and are engineered to work in excess of 10,000 cycles.
The materials we use for all of our products are a custom made proprietary mix of commercial grade, UV resistant resins that will last well beyond our 5 year full replacement warranty.

Great for light duty cords but not medium duty cords. More for like house cords some of my light ...
Great for light duty cords but not medium duty cords. More for like house cords some of my light duty cords do not snap seal in the cover(pictured). Although my connections are covered and can withstand rain which is still good but must be secured in a location where rain fall doesn't create a puddle. I purchased a few of them in fall '19 at the local home depot.

Please revert to the old twisting model
Do not buy these. I recently took down my christmas lights and found that each of the four of these that I bought and used had water in them. I had bought the prior model that actually twisted and sealed the year before and they worked, and still work, great. For those that live in areas with heavy rain or have lawn sprinklers be warned.

We have sold millions of these products and comments about them not keeping the water out are very rare. All of our products have been independently lab / field tested and certified to perform as claimed.
the only way that the products would not perform is if they were not shut, the cord was too big or too small for the cord protect. The Mini is designed for the small gauge light cord connections. The cord protect which it sounds like is what you purchased is designed for the standard size 14 & 16 gauge extension cord connections.
