Mike, Type-e is intended for exactly that use. you would use 1.9lb per 94lb bag of cement, or if another size bag, use 2% of cement content (not necessarily, the bag weight, but rather the weight of cement contained in the bag) Type-e will reduce the flow of efflorescence through the setting bed and joints and waterproof the mortar trough capillary crystalline action.
