We would like to use this board as a fire block to prevent the spread of a fire in the attic of an apartment complex.....It would be used at the truss separating each unit. The fire rating would have to be at least one hour.
The ones I got were labeled on one side.
Not recommended by me, this product has very little rigidity laying flat. Very strong when installed in the upright position. Hope this helps.
I would guess yes, however, joints probably need some filler,as the edges are rounded and not square.
Chris Thank you for your inquiry. Durock Cement Board is a tilebacker board and is intended to be finished with tile, thin brick or stucco. It requires a subfloor which should be minimum 5/8" APA span-rated plywood or OSB with an Exposure 1 classification or better. If you have a free standing tub and plan to tile the Durock first, it can be used under the tub. Hope this helps.
In Jan 2019, I installed two 4x8 sheets of backerboard (8x8 total) over an existing wood deck (6" above a sandy, wet area) in my backyard to primarily use as a deck for my 2 bbq grills / smokers. I used 6" boards as edging and painted the entire thing in black FLEXSEAL....it works great, we use it every weekend and we walk, sit chairs on it etc...with NO PROBLEMS. Whoever answered "NO" is clueless !!! Try it yourself, we love it and it's solid.
Yes, never have a mold problem with cement. You will need to apply a plaster coat to make it look good.
Not recommended by me, this product has very little rigidity laying side ways. Very strong standing upright.
Vince Thank you for your inquiry. Durock EdgeGuard can be used as a base for an exterior stucco wall. Durock should be a minimum of 8" above grade. Use exterior grade alkali resistant tilebacker screws to fasten the Durock directly to studs spaced no more than 16" o.c. Follow the stucco manufacturer's recommendation for wall prep. Hope this helps.
Thank you for your inquiry. 1/2" Durock Cement boards weighs 2.4 pounds per square foot. A 4' x 8' sheet weighs approximately 77 pounds. Hope this helps.
