Product Details

USG Sheetrock Brand Easy Sand 45 Joint Compound is a lightweight, setting-type compound with a 45-minute working time. USG setting-type joint compounds provide faster finishing of drywall interiors, even under slow drying conditions. Rapid chemical hardening and low shrinkage permit same-day finishing and usually next-day decoration. USG Sheetrock Brand Easy Sand 45 Joint Compound features an exceptional bond; virtually unaffected by humidity extremes. It is ideal for laminating double-layer systems, particularly fire-rated assemblies, and for adhering gypsum panels to above-grade concrete surfaces. May also be used for surface texturing and for filling, smoothing and finishing interior above-grade concrete. Note: Setting-type joint compounds should not be used for skim coating due to dryout concerns.

A: Susan Thank you for your inquiry. An 18 pound bag of Sheetrock Easy Sand setting type joint compound tapes the joints and covers the fasteners and corner bead of roughly 10 sheets of 4' x 8' Sheetrock. Hope this helps.

A: Peter Thank you for your inquiry. Sheetrock Easy Sand 45 is sandable and can be used as a top coat. Note, however, that we do not recommend skimcoating at less than 1/8" with setting type joint compounds such as Easy Sand. Hope this helps.

Answer This Question

A: Thank you for your inquiry. Sheetrock Easy Sand Setting Type Joint Compound should not be applied over moist surfaces or surfaces likely to become moist. Sheetrock Mold Tough (green board) is not meant to be used on shower walls, as one of the limitations is to avoid exposure to excessive, repetitive or continuous moisture before, during and after installation. We recommend using tilebacker board such as Durock or Fiberock in tub enclosures and shower enclosures. Hope this helps.
