About This Product

Weighing up to 25% less than conventional weight compounds, USG Sheetrock Brand Plus 3 Joint Compound is ideal for repairing cracks on drywall and plaster, embedding USG Sheetrock Brand Paper Joint Tape, and applying drywall filling and finishing coats. May also be used for covering fasteners, USG Sheetrock Brand Corner Bead and Trim, skim coating drywall surfaces, and hand-applying simple textures. Requiring less coats over fasteners and bead, it eliminates the need for taping and topping compounds. USG ready-mixed joint compounds are preferred for consistently high-quality work. Superior formulations are premixed to a creamy, smooth consistency and are essentially free of crater-causing air bubbles. They can be used in hand or machine-tool applications and offer excellent slip, bond, and easy workability.

Highlights

  • Pre-mixed compound for minimal mixing, thinning, and retendering
  • Minimizes coats over fasteners and bead
  • Bonds like a taping compound
  • GREENGUARD Gold certified for low-emitting performance
  • Return Policy

Q:What type of compound should I use to fill larger gaps in drywall?
by|Feb 19, 2024

Answer This Question

A:  Eileen Thank you for your inquiry. Setting type joint compounds such as Durabond or Easy Sand are chemically setting compounds for drywall interiors and exteriors that permit same-day joint finishing, and, usually, next-day decoration. They are ideal for heavy fills and are virtually unaffected by extreme humidity. They provide low shrinkage and superior bond. Hope this helps

Q:Wish to skim coat a popcorn ceiling. This ceiling has been painted. How will this effect the ability of the Plus 3 to adhere to the ceiling
      by|Jan 26, 2024

      Answer This Question

A:  nonrev321- It is unknown how a painted popcorn ceiling will affect the Plus 3s ability to adhere to the ceiling. When applying joint compound over a previously painted or textured surface we strongly recommend that a mock-up is done first to insure proper bond and suitable appearance. The ceiling should be prepared by removing any lose material and roughing up any slick surfaces and then wiped clean. There is no need to thin the joint compound and depending on the texture/popcorn multiple coats may be necessary.

          A DIY Artist Dream Product
For a DIY PROJECT person it's perfect. The biggest selling point is the convenience factor of not having to mix and eliminating the need of having a bucket and mixing tools. I've used it to create a textured plaster wall as well as to up cycle old vases into pottery pieces. So far everything has bonded well with no cracking.

          Great product
Works great. Mix well. Easy to apply. Easily comes off of floor. I used it to get rid of textured walls. Will definitely use it again for this kind of work.

Does what its intended to do
I have used this joint compound for almost 4 years now and have been happy with the results. It mixes up well with a little bit of water to thin it out for precise applications. It has met my expectations so far and I have not had a reason to dislike it. It is very affordable and this bucket will go a long way.
