It has been 3 years since we purchased and installed this denim insulation in our guesthouse, but I believe there were 5 48" long pieces in each bag. Good luck with your project if you decide to use this product. We are really happy with it.

You'd have to spray the paint. Doubt you could roll on it. As far as the acoustics, painting it could make the surface "smoother" which would reflect the sound instead of distorting it like a rough surface will.

would a spray adhesive be ok to use to help hold up in wall cavity along with wire supports

Moisture in your attic? I'm confused about the question. This product made a huge difference in our electric usage.

Does this settle over time ?

I don’t believe so. The insulation is obviously hidden in the walls now but it was very pliable to work with and form fitting. The texture is almost sponge like, allowing you to conform it but also is firm enough to hold its shape. It stays in place very easily allowing you to add more to fill in any gaps etc. It’s been 2 years since our install and no issues.

This product is easy to use and safe to handle without gloves unlike fiberglass insulation. You can easily tear the insulation for the right size. I used a handsaw to start a nice clean square cut and then would tear the rest. There is a perforation lengthwise if you need a smaller width. I just wished Home Depot stocked this item in its stores.

Easy handling & installation. This size (4 foot bats) perfect for underfloor application (e.g., crawlspace). Used tie-wire on 6p nails pre-installed as support grid. Relatively easy to cut or tear (with some effort) by hand or with box-cutter, for tight fit areas. Some dust issues as fibers erupt when tearing, but just minor, no big deal. Wore eye protection only, no face mask needed.

I bought about 16 pallets of this R30 the insulate the Quonset hut type roof of one of our buildings that had blow on type cellulose that was thin and ineffective, I could not hire any local company to do the job as no one wanted to do it, so we had to do it ourselves, we did have to cover with chicken wire to hold it because ribs are 48"X48" then I sprayed whole thing flat black with dry fall paint. This product was much easier than fiberglass or god forbid rock wool, I would almost say it's fun and cozy, but still little dusty, excellent product, may never use fiberglass again.

The insulation was light weight, so I could easily drag a pack of five up the stairs. The packaging was sturdy enough that it did not tear while moving packs around. Since the product does not require special protective gear, installation was very quick and easy. Now I am simply waiting for the next hot summer day to see what the impact is on keeping my house cool. It's more expensive than Fiberglas but so much more easy to handle.

Perfect for our tiny house

We were amazed to find R-30 insulation made of 80% post-consumer recycled material. We got it for our tiny house on wheels, to insulate the subfloor and the ceiling. It was easy to install because we could rip it by hand to fit it around the wheel wells. With our house being so small and so well insulated, it will be very easy to heat this winter!

I bought this for my attic - I removed old fiberglass batts between my attic floor joists and replaced with these denim batts. It's quiet, warm, fits right for 16" on center framing, and is great to work with - no itch, just a dust mask needed. However cutting is a challenge, so your project may take a bit longer. After researching sites & reviews to find out how best to cut, I got an inexpensive insulation saw for cut outs (just like a long bread knife). You might even buy two for a big job - any blade will dull over time on this stuff. For long rip cuts, the web description said these came pre-perforated for tearing into strips, but my order didn't for some reason. Based on another web review, I used my portable table saw which worked great - just be safe when doing this (blade at full height, blade guard off, one pass, flip over, 2nd pass - and use a guide stick) Cost is about double fiberglass and I think more than mineral batts, but I'd prefer living in a house filled with blue jeans any day. Enjoy!

First the bad: 1. This stuff is supposed to be 8" thick and the manufacturer states that shaking it will restore the loft lost in packaging. Shaking really has little effect and the maximum thickness that I got was about 6 inches. 2. The company's video shows it being installed without any protection. Nice try...this stuff is extremely dusty and while it isn't nearly irritating as fiberglass it doesn't take long to get a nose full of blue. Wear a dust mask and save some sniffles. 3. A utility knife won't touch this stuff....I used a cordless skill saw that worked well because of its slower speed. 4. The product is available in 15" and 16" widths with no guidance as to why. The good: 1. No itch 2. Easy to handle 3. Stays put 4. Much better to work with fiberglass
