I find the tool useful for quickly hanging small to medium frames. The tool can mark either one hole for a hanging hook, or a pair of holes side by side. In the two hole case, they are only two inches apart. For a frame 36 inches wide, I'd want a pair of holes much farther apart than two inches. Speaking for myself, I'd skip this tool and instead use a 48 inch level and a tape measure to lay out the hooks.
Hello Ashley, Thank you for your interest in our products. The Hang and Level™ was first offered for sale in 2006. I trust that you will find this information helpful, if we can assist you further, please do not hesitate to let us know. Sincerely, UTR Care Team
If you can join the hooks on the frame with a hanging wire, this tool could help if the frame is not large. If you can't install a hanging wire on the frame but the hooks are less than 12 inches apart, you could use this tool as a horizontal level and lay out your hangers that way. But in that case you're not really using the features of the tool, you could do it all with a simple level and a tape measure. If the hooks are farther apart than 12 inches and you cannot join them with a wire, I don't think this tool really helps.
