How do you remove if necessary?

These have one-way screws so they won't normally come out using a standard flat head screw driver. I have in the past, used my angle grinder to cut a "slot" into the head of the one-way screw, then use a normal flat head screwdriver to unscrew it using the slot just made with the angle grinder. Hope this helps. -Bill

How to clean window with window guard in place?

Asked by Nica2 November 2, 2014
1
Answer

Thank you for your interest in our Su Casa Window Guard. When the window guard is in place, it is still possible to clean the window. We recommend that customers use any window cleaner for the glass and use a rag to wipe in between the bars. Window cleaning products can be found at your local Home Depot. If your window guard brackets are inside mounted or flush mounted, a squeegee could be used in hard to reach areas. I hope this information is helpful for you. If you need any additional assistance, please feel free to call our Customer Service Team at 1-866-497-3667.

Could this be mounted horizontally? Our windows are quite long and thin 45" by 27".

Answer

Thank you for your interest in our Su Casa window guards. We do not recommend using the vertical window guards in a horizontal fashion. You might want to consider using our connector pins to join two vertical guards together to achieve your desired width. The connector pins can be viewed on homedepot.com using internet id #202098375. I hope this information is helpful for you.

Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, The connector pins or T-bracket should be installed as far as they can go between the two window guards. Make sure when measuring the opening, the right size window guards are purchased so that there will not be a gap between them for maximum security. The connector pieces are 4 inches long.

Very nice. Great price but thin steel. Easily installed with carriage bolts, fender washer and cap. This is well made but thin gauge steel. If you want more, you'll need a much more expensive unit with 16 gauge tubing. The gauge of the steel is what cost the rating a star. This window guard is part of a system. The current glass is double laminated glass, three inch screws in the door hinges, solid reinforced upper/lower strike plate on the door frame with security latches (inside middle top and middle bottom), all installed with three inch, stainless steel, screws. The door itself has a large reinforced plate for the deadbolt lock and door knob. The deadbolt is an unpickable keyway; Bowley. Outside the door is a security camera (4K, 8MP), so between all of this effort, the gauge of the steel is not the most important part of the lock system. Overall, this is a very nice window guard that I highly recommend and meets wife approval. As a stand alone security system, it's more for looks than functionality which I couldn't recommend unless an upper floor, solid, non-sliding window. Buy based upon your budget and intended use.
