This question has been asked before. Previous answers indicate that installation over vinyl siding is not recommended. It's best to mount the brackets directly to the studs beneath the siding for secure installation.
Thank you for your interest in our Black Projection Brackets. The projection brackets are made out of steel. I hope this information is helpful for you.
Yes, they can be welded however, they are coated and will need to be ground to bare metal.
Thank you for your interest in our Projection Brackets. The diameter of the hole in the projection brackets is 3/8 inch. I hope this information is helpful for you.
Thank you for your interest in our Projection Brackets. You will need a one way driver to install the one-way screws. I hope this information is helpful.
If you need to remove them completely and have access to a grinder with an .045 cutting wheel grind a slot into the head of the screw enough to use a flat screwdriver. if your not replacing or relocating the bracket, centerpunch the head then use a 1/4" metal drill bit and drill off the head, the body of the bolt will remain in the wall.
Thank you for your interest in our Projection Brackets with one -way screws. We would suggest you speak with an associate at your local Home Depot store for assistance with your question. For the security of the window guard, the one-way screws are not meant to be removed. There are, however, tools that can make the process easier and a millwork associate should be able to offer suggestions. I hope this is helpful.
Take a grinder and cut a slot on the head of the screw. Than use a slotted screw driver
Take a picture of the screw (or better yet a spare unused screw) and take this to Fastenal. They will be able to sell you an appropriate bit. to remove.the normally unremoveable screws.
https://www.homedepot.com/p/eazypower-0-339-in-10-2-in-One-Way-Screw-Remover-1-Pack-88245/202889690 This tool will do the job. You must work carefully and turn the screw slowly using heavy pressure on the removal tool.
1" to 5" per side. So if the guard is say 32" wide, you need a minimum of 34" to mount it and a maximum of 42". Hope that helps.
Width side to side between mounting holes,
Thank you for your interest in our Mounting Brackets for window guards. The mounting brackets can adjust outward approximately 2.5 inches on each side for a total width increase of 5 inches. I hope this information is helpful for you.
I had these all the way in but I think you would not want more than 2-1/2" extension per side for a total of 5" overall. They will extend more than 2-1/2" but you might lose physical strength, might be easy to pull off?
Its just saying if you have a window cover that is 30 inches wide when you place these onto them they will become 1 inch wider each side so you would end up with 32 inches total width.
Add 1" overall to your window guard size. these brackets slide inside the cross brace for mounting.
Use conventional hex head lag bolts instead of the screws supplied.
with a 4/1/2 grinder and cut off wheel, grind a straight groove in screw and then use a large regular screw driver to remove screw. this will destroy one way screw but it will come out.
Thank you for your interest in our 3” projection brackets. The brackets measure 6.25 inches in length and 3.25 inches in width. I hope this information is helpful for you. Please feel free to call our Customer Service Team at 1-866-497-3667, if you feel you need further assistance.
