A: Thank you for your interest in our ArcadaMax Security Door. The perforated metal screen found on the ArcadaMax will be the same color as the door itself. So if the door is black, the perforated metal screen will be black. The colors are not interchangeable. I hope this information is helpful.

Q:Why is "rust" excluded from the warranty? This is the main problem with these doors and you don't stand behind your product?

Answer This Question
A: Thank you for your interest in our Security Doors. Unfortunately, all steel will rust. Rust is a naturally occurring process that occurs when iron reacts with oxygen which creates oxidation, also known as rust. Oxidation will occur no matter the process of preparation and prevention. It can only be mitigated. The mitigation process we use is powder coating the metal. Enviromental differences can slow or speed this process of oxidation and therefore we do not warranty against it. Preventative maintenance can slow the process of oxidation. If you see rust spots forming, you can use a stiff wire brush to remove the spot and then re-coat with a rust preventative paint such as Rustoleum. I hope this information is helpful.

Very poorly made
After finally installing the security screen I stepped back to take a look and this is what I seen. Looks like a banged up folded up piece of foil. Not happy and will be taking it down to return it asap.

security gate
This security gate has big hole in the screen, which means no privacy when the main entrance door is open. The screen is flimsy and noisy when the gate shuts closed, but if you want a security gate for looks or a cheap security gate, this is the gate for you. * Please make the old screen doors with smaller holes for privacy.

The door was fairly easy to install, I was able to do it by myself with no problem. I did not use the one way screws provide as i wanted the ability to remove it needed. I used 5/16" x 4" flathead torx screws. I originally ordered the seal kit but it did not work for my installation, I made a wood strip to cover the top gap and will make a wooden filler strip and install a sweep on the bottom. About the only complaint is that it is noisy if shut to hard. I plan on using some silicone where the screen is not tight to the frame to quiet it down. Also it takes a while to get used to looking out of it because the holes in the are fairly close together, you can see out but you pretty much can't see in.

I installed this on my newly purchase home in June of 2018. I decided to get the heavier ArcadaMAX perforated metal instead of the expanded metal and I'm sure glad I did. The powder coat looks great and I dont expect it to deteriorate here in the So Cal weather. Due to this being the perforated model, it acts as a privacy screen as well as a security door. You can't see into my home but I can see out. Even at night, with a back light you can still only see shadows from outside. As many others have said, the perforated ArcadaMAX is much heavier than the expanded metal version and would take someone a lot more effort to get through it, making enough noise to alert you in advance.
My home's door frame wasn't set up for a screen so it took some carpentry work to install but even with that it wasn't too bad. Having two people would have helped. I added the optional bug sweep kit to finish it off and with some fine adjustments, my door is level, bug resistant and solid as a rock. Money well spent if you ask me.
ONE COMPLAINT: After installing I noticed a few dents/impressions toward the bottom of the door on the perforated metal. Not major or even a big deal but I was disappointed in myself for not noticing them in the store prior to purchasing or installing. Seriously minor and doesn't effect anything but still. Could have been my doing during install, so I didn't take any stars away. Only reason I mention it is so when you are purchasing one, just pay attention. Not worth taking it down after it's installed.

The "perforated screen" on this MAX door is SO MUCH STRONGER than the "expanded steel screen" used on cheaper models.
I just finished installing my new door, with the closer, lockset, and seal kits recommended by the Home Depot staff. This thing is a BEAST! My wife can now feel safe to nap during the day with the front door open for airflow. I had originally intended to install the cheaper "Arcada" model with the "expanded steel screen". Once I got down to store and physically examined that screen, I began thinking how easy it would be to cut through it with a strong knife or HD box cutter. As I pulled the door further from rack, I noticed that someone had done just that! A "V"-shaped cut had been made in the expanded screen material, big enough for a man's hand to reach through to the inner door locks (what a jerk!).
The "perforated screen" on this MAX door is MUCH STRONGER! An intruder might still be able to get though it, but they would need an axe! Well worth the extra $58.
My only hangup during the install came when I tried to install the latch & deadbolt assemblies into the edge of the door. The screws supplied with the locksets were all for a wooden-door installation, and not compatible with the pre-drilled and tapped mounting holes in my new steel door. Only the large one-way screws for attaching the frame were supplied with the door itself. Another trip down to Home Depot was needed, then some trial & error fitting until I found the Metric "4 mm-0.7 x 10 mm Zinc-Plated Flat-Head Phillips Drive Machine Screws (3/bag Store SKU #574632 ). You need 4 screws, so buy 2 bags at least.
Once installed, I can tell that the stronger screen material does block airflow quite a bit, but there's no question about security. I wouldn't doubt that the new door is at least as strong as my wooden front door. Had the Metric screws been included in the package, I would have given this product all 5 stars.

I was looking for a security door that was relatively inexpensive, yet still looked good. This fit the bill, although I do recommend getting the seal kit, which I did. Be prepared that there will still be a few small gaps. Also, depending on the type of handle you have on your main door, the placement of your handle and dead bolt may need to be flipped, meaning your dead bolt could be on the bottom. I was fortunate and this wasn't necessary, but it depends on how much clearance you have. Over all, it looks to be well made for the price.

The color of the screen in this picture is pretty deceiving...though the finish is listed as copper, it's really close to black with a few hints of copper when it catches the light. I'd recommend going to check out the finish in store before ordering. Also, we had a bear of a time installing this door, but think it had more to do with our house (stucco and depth of door frame) than with the door itself.

Wife very happy
Easy install, was nice that screw driver bit was included for single direction screws. Top rail was dented pretty bad, but was able to use by turning dent towards wall. Door is beautiful from inside looking out. From outside looking from street, perforated metal screen has a few irregularities where screen is attached to door frame. All in all, it is more than worth it's cost.

My Door is Perfect
After researching security doors for two days, I bought this one for the price, appearance, drill bit tool included, size and ship free to my nearby store, where it arrived in five days including over Thanksgiving. I must say the packaging was superb, three layers of large bubble wrap, all corner protected with plastic and cardboard. The mesh screen is not warped and there's nary a mark on it. It is the one I wanted and fortunately it came with everything and would be shipped to my store. It took two days of chatting with reps and reading to get all the pieces to fit, and then of all things, it wouldn't fit in my sedan, so low and behold a contractor in the parking lot saw my plight and drove the darn door to my house in the next town! So far so good. Here's the pic after unpacking as so many folks reviews helped me in my decision on a fixed income I couldn't afford to be wrong.
