      Poor quality control
The hinges didn’t line up and the company offered no replacement parts because it had been discontinued. Do not recommend Unique Home Design doors.

        Good looking door, poor instructions
For a $1000.00 door, you would expect way clearer instructions! It was NOT an easy install. It literally took all day and many, many adjustments. The locking mechanism is super funky and I'm concerned of it failing at some point and locking me in or out of the house! The screws provided are cheaply made(not magnetic). The key lock feels super cheap too. Would not buy this particular type of screen door again by this maker.

          Not worth it
I have had this screen for almost a year and can even lock it. I called the number provided and the person trouble shot over the phone with our handyman, it barely worked for a couple weeks. I paid close to a grand and can’t even leave my door open cause the screen doesn’t lock. So disappointed. Should have bought a 100 dollar screen and be able to actually use it.

All around Supreme security door. Installed through Home Depot with RF installations. Looks great from inside view and is very secure when locked.

                Need some advice
I have to surface mount this thing and I’m running into problem with getting into stud. My question is should I cut the stucco and basically build a frame to attach the door?

I LOVE this screen door! Its way beyond better than I thought it would be. I ordered it online and it was delivered free to my local Home Depot store. Easy pick up. My handyman had no problem installing it. It actually looks like there is no screen, my view out is amazing. Sturdy, secure, I wish I would have known about this door a year ago when I purchased my home.

This door is fantastic! I have had it installed for 3 months. I was nervous because of some of the negative comments posted here but I persevered and installed the door with ease. I was very diligent in accurately measuring and ensuring that I would have the clearances necessary to have a tight fit. I installed 3 1/2" pvc white trim around my stucco doorway to frame the new gate. I used 3" pvc trim screws with the plugs to conceal all the screws which binded tightly to the framing. The kit I purchased only had 2" screws and they wouldn't grab the studs. I went back to Home Depot and found longer screws for decks which worked brilliantly since they had the same head shape and my plugs still worked. Since my stucco tapers near the doorway, I used synthetic shims which I also got at HD and installed them wherever I installed screws. I broke the excess length of the shims off after the gate was finally installed. I also predrilled the pvc so my screws would slide through it so it wouldn't pull it flush with the stucco which would make it taper as well. I'll fill the gap with foam caulk saver and conceal it with latex caulk. Here are some tips: 1. Before mounting the hinge side jam, space out the assembly on the ground and take measurements to see how much clearance you will have on each side. You want to make sure that the locking side has enough clearance so your hand will have room to unlock the gate. Some people didn't account for this and have very little room to operate the lock. 2. The height of the jams is also critical. My door way is taller than the gate by a good margin. I decided to not have the top jam sit below my trim so I mounted it flush with the top trim. That leaves me with a 2.5" gap below to the threshold. I didn't use the bottom bar or the metal threshold that came with the kit since it wouldn't work in my situation. Instead, I installed a 3/16" thick piece of recycled epdm rubber which is 4" tall, purchased on amazon, and used automotive rubber trim adhesive and screwed it to the screen with stainless steel screws. Now I have a seal which sits flush with my existing threshold and will keep all the critters and rodents away and looks very clean. I like this option because I can custom fit the seal so there are no open gaps. The rubber comes in different thicknesses. 3. My wife wanted our front door key to work with the new gate. Since our existing door uses a Schlage keyset, I had to do some research. I visited my locksmith and they found the Ilco 52225SC-26D-0B. It fits right into the existing slot and matches the stock Kwikset keyway. The only difference is it's Schlage and can be rekeyed to your front door. Please note that this is for the 5 pin model. You can order the 6 pin but it's a different model. Officially, this isn't supported but the keyway doesn't alter the door in any way and simply slides into the slot. 4. When installing the trim pieces that cover the screw holes, one of them dropped an 1/8" and created a gap at the top when I was hammering. I used a 2 ft piece of rebar under the trim, put a piece of wood that was taller than the bottom of the trim underneath the rebar and gently pushed down on the other end of the rebar to lift the trim up. With this lever, the trim slides with gentle pressure. Don't try to remove the trim because you'll end up damaging it. 5. Unique Home Designs customer service is great. I had an issue with the latch guard screw hole being too big and they sent a new one out right away. Cheers to Owen Palmer who handled my situation. At first, I was against installing a metal gate since it makes the house look like a prison. When I discovered the Meshtec product I was swayed with its clean aesthetic. Now we can leave the door open in the summer and even sleep with just the gate locked. I'll install a wireless alarm sensor at the gate to add to our alarm system for peace of mind. The added bonus is when the kids bring their dogs, they love sun bathing and watching people walk by.
