Q:On the Lock-side Jamb there are 3 predrilled holes in the jamb - what are they for?

    Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your interest in our Su Casa Security door. The pre-drilled holes are for the installation of the one-way screws into the surface of your home's exterior. I hope this information is helpful for you.

A:  Since I used the 8 bracket to mount security gate to the house. With the weather conditions we get (wind, rain & snow), these 3 predrilled holes in the jamb will be wind blown dirt collectors plus the wind blown rain and snow. SInce no rubber/plastic plugs were provided, I'll need to be sealing them closed. Wait, I know! I could attach a piece of 3" X 1 1/2" X 80" galvanized angle iron to help keep out anyone from reaching through the 3" gap between jamb and house. Plus using a double keyed deadlock. Could do something similar to all 4 sides to keep birds, mice and etc... from getting inbetween security gate and glass sliding patio door.

Q:With the 3+ inch garp around all 4 sides of the patio sliding glass security door - what could be used to secure this open space? Angle Iron or something like that?

        Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your interest in our Projection Mount Patio Security Door. Installation of a double cylinder deadbolt (keyed on inside AND outside) will prevent unwanted intrusion as long as the key is not left in the lock on the inside of the door and the deadbolt is in the locked position. Intruders can slip their hand through but not be able to open the locked security door. I hope this information is helpful.

I had the patio security door installed by professionals. Two of them spent hours to get it right. They had to carve the center at top and bottom to fit it. After the installation was done, we realized that there was no lock box but only two holes for locks. There are large gaps on sides that anyone can unlock the deadbolt from outside. I feel like the design went into sale while it was still in draft phase. Now, I'm stuck with a security door that is just a screen door at a very high price.

Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, To fit most standard sized patio sliding door, this door has a 3"" projection mount to allow for no interference with the sliding glass door. For more security, a double cylinder can be installed. Some building code and city ordinances restrict the use of double cylinder deadbolts on doors that are a primary point of egress. The homeowner is solely responsible for compliance with local code and ordinances. For a sliding, full view patio security solution, see the listing for the Ultimate Security Patio Screen Door with Meshtec Advanced Screen System.

This door was easy to install, however if you’re serious about security you should go with something better. The “lip” with a hole that you use to secure the one way screws to the house literally fell off. Very poor welding job. If the very piece that attaches the entire unit to the home isn’t secure, the door is worthless.
