About This Product

Tulips are unique in range of size, shape, and bold color, found in almost every color spectrum that only tulips provide. Tulips are good for a wide range of plantings, are excellent in the rock garden, in formal beds, as elegant cut flowers, and good for containers. They can be used in nearly any garden design scheme. Flowers are upward facing, with linear to lance shaped green leaves on the stem. An incredible source of inexpensive color for the garden. Plant several different varieties of tulips throughout the garden to extend the blooming time. They can be found in Europe, North Africa, and Asia. They are shorter than typical tulips, which makes them ideal for rock gardens and containers. They are often over looked due to their smaller size. They perform beautifully, perennializing and naturalizing extremely well in USDA zones 3-8. A seasonal Best Buy. To ensure optimal results, allow adequate space, sunlight, plant at the appropriate depth, feed with a well balanced fertilizer, removing the flowers as soon as they go, but allowing the leaves to yellow before removing. Best planted late fall. Some gardeners in some areas treat tulips as annuals. For an informal look, plant in groups in natural swathes or bouquets. In USDA zones 8-10, refrigerate the bulbs for no less then eight weeks. In the garden, plant them before frost, but not as early as in the northern part of the country. Planting them in a lightly shaded area will keep them cool and prolong blooming.

Questions & Answers

How big an area will this cover?
BySep 13, 2026

Answer This Question

This mixture is for smaller specie tulips. For a fuller, more natural-looking display, I would recommend planting species tulips about 4–6" apart. At 6" spacing, for example, 100 bulbs would cover approximately 25 square feet.

Beautiful tiny perennial and naturalizing tulips
I planted these in October 2021. They bloomed for the first time in spring 2022, and are blooming again in Spring 2023. They are also spreading. The tulips have a nice mix of colors and forms, and are on average between 6" and 8" tall. Very cute and unusual, and a great value! My neighbors tell me they love them. I feel like the low review about the tiny bulb size is because the customer did not read the description, and so did not realize that these are small tulips, and so the bulbs are small.

        Tiny bulbs
These are tiny, the size of onion sets, crocus bulbs are bigger. I can't imagine they are going to bloom within years.
