Why don't you have a better description of this particular item such as what comes with it how long are the tubes, what

Asked by: G2
Reaches about 4' from roof to ceiling (someone should be able to give you exact specs, but here's my take): Buy the extra extension if your "reach" is even close to 48" or more. Better to have it and not need it (you can return it if unused). I have installed 3 of them in a Ranch house, and only needed an extension for the room located near the middle of the house. Included: 1. Top cap (exterior) 2. Center tube 3. Ceiling Diffuser (interior) Everything you need to install is in the box (except additional tube length). We LOVE these tubes; It's the best addition we've put in our home in years. The darkest room in the house is now the brightest room in the house! The first install took me about 4-6 hours, the last one took me about 2-3 hours. Take your time. There are some videos online that show you how to install this, but it is fairly straightforward

Is there diminished light when the distance to the roof is greater than the 4 ft. say 8 to 10 ft?
Asked by: john
Hi John. With the rigid tubing, you can go up to 20 feet and not experience diminished lighting output from this VELUX Sun Tunnel system.

14 in. Sun Tunnel Tubular Skylight with Rigid Tunnel and Pitched High Density Flashing is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 74.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Replaced My Rigid Sun Tunnel with Flexible One I replaced my roof a few months ago and have been a bit disappointed with the flexible sun tunnel. LOVED the rigid tunnel. Wanted to just replace the roof piece, but that wasn't an option. They do corrode, but there should be a replacement part for that. I had to replace the entire system, just for the boot piece. Had a great deal of light in the kitchen, but the flexible connector just doesn't have the same power. I wish I would have insisted the roofer put another rigid sun tunnel in. Also the old one had more of a clear attachment inside and the new one is quite opaque so that dims it more as well. I now have to turn on the lights much more than I used to. Is there a way I can get a clear cover or convert my flexible to a rigid system (it is a straight down shot from my roof to my inside cover)? I would give it a great big 5-star if I didn't have the old one to compare it to. If you have a choice, go with the rigid sun tunnel. Just so disappointed in the flexible one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the light, hate the bugs. Had mine professionally installed by a contractor last year as part of a remodel. Put it in the utility room with no natural light. What a difference! Love how much light it lets in even after sundown. Unfortunately, within a couple of months there were a least a couple dozen dead, squarish bugs about 1/2" long in it. The contractor came back and cleaned them out and checked the installation and said everything was tight. But the bugs just keep accumulating. When I try to twist the trim ring to take it off to clean them out, it won't budge. Afraid I will break it. This sucks because I love the light but the bugs look terrible and are unavoidable when you look at it. So again, based on the performance, this tube is great. But the bugs really bring down the satisfaction. Not being able to easily clean it just compounds the issue.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not entirely thrilled No doubt the two sun tunnels I had professionally installed add much needed light to a dark kitchen. However, the light projected onto the ceiling lens has a number of "hot spots" and irregularities. It's not a deal-breaker, but it's nothing I've read about or seen in other reviews. The Velux rep looked at them and told me it's not uncommon to get this effect. If I'd known ahead of time, I might have invested in something different. Also, LED lights have not performed as advertised. May be bad batteries--will have to see what happens after they're replaced.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sun Tunnel 10 Years and Counting Installed three (TSR 010) 10" Sun Tunnel Skylights about ten years ago and we are about to install a fourth into our galley kitchen space. We have been amazed with the amount of light this product provides our interior space. The best comment was from my father inlaw when we were about to go out to an early dinner which was "Are you going to turn off some of these lights?" We had to explain to him how they work...........fun times. I am starting to notice one of the outside lenses starting to haze over like modern headlight lenses on cars do. How do I go about buying a replacement lens?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Inexpensive than a sky light for sure and it is... Inexpensive than a sky light for sure and it is easy to install. Love having more light, but the lught feels too blue in my once dark kitchen. Going to insert some woven fabric or tissue paper to get it to the shade that is more pleasing to the eye. I think this may help.

Great product, but after installing 3 of the skylights and then working on the 4th we discovered they changed the trim ring. I had to return to the store and open boxes until I found another light with the matching trim ring.
