Answer This Question

A:  The Vaughan 5.5 in. Pull Saw with Composite Handle is either out of stock or no longer a Home Depot stock item. Contact Home Depot @ 1 800-466-3337

by|Mar 5, 2020

A:  This product can be purchased thru the Vaughan website if you can't find it at a local store.

by|Mar 5, 2020

A:  If it's not available in-stores and delivery is unavailable then it is either out-of-stock or has been discontinued; or is not available in the location you live. It will be disappointing if this saw is no longer available as it is a pretty good Japanese-style flush cut pull saw.

This is a great little saw that can get in some tight spaces for flush cuts. I used it for some dowel inserts, and only needed minimal sanding afterwards to clean up the flush cut surface. The saw blade is flexible, for use with pull cuts only. The teeth are a fine 17 TPI on one side and an even finer 21 TPI on the other. There's no set to the teeth, so you don't need to worry about them scratching up whatever surface you're cutting next to. The handle on this saw is a little cheap feeling, but gets the job done. The Japanese-made blade is the important part, and it feels high quality and cuts really well. The only thing negative I have to say is about the price - this mini pull saw is priced nearly identical to Vaughan's full sized Bear Saw, which is much more useful for a wider range of applications.

      What great little saw.
This 5 1/2 in. Flush-Cut Double-Edged Mini Pull Saw by Vaughan is one great little saw. At only 5 1/2 inches long it can be used in those tight spaces. The pull to cut feature is a really nice feature. This saw has a Fine side on one side and the other side is a Extra Fine. This is a authentic Japanese pull saw and the blade is very flexible. I have a couple of flush cut saws I use in my wood working but this one is so much better than they are. It is now my go to flush cut saw. The blade has a very thin 0.016 inch kerf and one side has 17 Teeth per inch and the other side has 21 Teeth per inch. This saw will also let you cut dovetails. The blade length is 5 1/2 inch's long and any type of Bear saw blades can be installed on the handle.

      For Precise Detail Cutting
The Vaughan 5½ inch saw is my tool of choice for detail wood cutting and trimming. It’s a useful complement to Vaughan’s general purpose 10½ inch saw. The fine/extra fine blade is built to last, with anti-rust plating and hardened teeth. Cutting on the pull stroke keeps the thin blade straight for narrow kerfs and precise control. Pull saws are traditionally used by Japanese craftsmen, who maintain their esteemed tools with great care. Recommended.

      Excellent flush cut pull saw
Vaughan 5-1/2 in. Flush-Cut Double-Edged Mini Pull Saw is a handy tool with different uses. Its a small pull saw that is great for tasks around the shop that need a thin saw blade for fine cuts that also will take out the minimum amount of wood in the cut. It comes with two different blades one on each side. One side is fine and the other one an extra fine blade with pitches 17 TPI and 21 TPI, respectively. It has a blade thickness of 0.016-inches with no set teeth offset. The blade is made of spring steel, rust resistant and has flex you expect for getting into tight spots. The handle is tough plastic and Vaughan offers replaceable blades for it because these Japanese blades can't be sharpened. The knob holding it to the handle can be loosened and the saw separated into two parts to fit more compactly in your toolbox. These screws must be machine tightened because mine wouldn't budge. Pull blades are more precise than push blades which is helpful with small cuts. This is because the blade is more forgiving doesn't flex on the pull where the force is than when you push it as with a regular saw. Everyone has gotten a wobble when pushing a regular saw blade. It can be used for flush dowel cuts, dovetails or cleaning up tenons. The smaller blade I feel is going to get even more general use and would have loved to have had it when undercutting door trim for a floor I was installing. This blade is more suitable for more kinds of woodwork tasks on both hard and soft woods. I have another Vaughan Japanese blade and find it very sharp and a pleasure to use. This saw is well suited for all around carpentry work. You can tell by all this that I'm a new fan of Japanese blades.

      Great little saw!
Love this saw. I use it for many things. Trim work, cutting shims flush, flooring, you name it. Very handy to have around. I have bought 3 so far. One for work one because I lost it and another for home.

Very good saw, excellent blade, reasonably priced as compared to other similar. Bought it to shorten dining table legs in place, also used to chop out a slot to accommodate a replacement Sharp drawer microwave that had an unexpected raised portion preventing the microwave from sliding in. Really smooth fast cuts after learning how to use it. Blade is just long and narrow enough to allow for short strokes without hitting anything around. Very glad I found this on Home Depot, will recommend and buy again as gift!
