Questions & Answers

Says to treat like wood trim so is it ok to attach with a brad nail gun and 1-1/2” galvanized nails same as I use for composite trim?
ByMay 26, 2025

Answer This Question

Veranda HP Beadboard can be hand or power nailed the same as wood. In cold temperatures below 32°F, predrilling is recommended to prevent splitting or cracking. Use stainless steel or hot dipped galvanized fasteners designed for wood trim and cladding. For best results, use fasteners with thin shanks, blunt points, and full round heads. 8D finish nails or 2” #8 trim screws are acceptable provided they penetrate 1-1/2” through a flat, solid wood substrate into a framing member. Fasteners should penetrate a minimum 1-1/2” into framing member. Fastener heads should be flush with the surface of the trim or slightly indented and no closer than ¾” from the end of the board.

It says it’s 2 1/2” wide but I’ve noticed on other pieces of trim, especially trim board that it tends to actually measure a half an inch smaller so what is the actual width of this item?

These boards are PVC throughout. They can be cut, routed, etc to fit your project needs.

Is this plastic? Can I heat it for shape

          Answer This Question

Because it is PVC, you can very carefully use a heat gun to possibly give it some bending.

Yes, you can sand, rout or bevel the edges with a table saw to soften the edges.

No, they're pretty smooth, no grain at all.

I actually wanted to use this as trim around a bathtub surround, so what kind of nails or other fastener would I use to adhere it to the wall and it look decent and hold well?

I used this in the bathroom as a spacer between a shower door and the tub surround. I used some construction adhesive as well as stainless steel screws. It's rock solid now

Great for adverting water damage. I really like these but they are easy to scratch or leave a mark. A board & batten project? Highly recommend. High traffic area where they may be bumped, not so much.

Very easy to install. Didn't get 5 stars due to a couple of the plastic mounting brackets being subpar. We purchased 8 and they work great for our 3 season room at the lake without spending hundreds more on "designer" blinds.

Easy to work with but a caution if you plan on using a router to trim the sides. Since it is plastic the edges don't shape like wood and the plastic tends to melt and fuse back to the cut piece. I didn't have any trouble cutting with a table saw.

Much easier to work with than wood. Not as fragile. It was recommended that we use a finishing blade for the miter saw. We did. But as luck would have it the rough cut blade worked just fine too. No splinters or cracks. It is not necessary to paint it but we did so all the trim would be the same color of white.
