At first I thought that these would be the solution to a problem I had for over a year. I have a deck railing that was built with composite parts a number of years ago. The company that made the parts, including the post caps, no longer sells in the US. I have been looking for a replacement cap for my 15 caps that have deteriorated over the years. I thought that these would do the trick but I had to paint them to match the existing railing and the caps I was replacing. I used an outdoor all-in-one spray paint that I thought would be fine on the vinyl caps. The problem is that the caps are now warping and the top parts are separating for the base. I'm just not sure if this is a product defect or a result of the paint I used.

Love this post cap style
I bought the 5x5 post sleeve and had options for the cap. For me, the Classic Style had all the details I love. The cap is a hard plastic, it's heavy for its size and fits perfectly into the post sleeve. The one drawback is they do scratch. I returned the first 2 I ordered due to nicks and scratches. Some may not be as particular as I am though. I'm actually using the post sleeve and cap to mark my property line rather than on a deck. I'm very pleased with the appearance. Grass clippings and bird droppings wash off easily.

waterproof caps for my fence
perfect weatherproof caps for my fence. I had a treated 4x4 faced with 1x4 cedar so I needed the 5" cap. I spray painted them using a bronze hammer finish.

I was quite happy to find these as they matched the caps on my white picket fencing BUT, as it turns out, they DO NOT FIT on a wood 4x4 which we all know really isn't 4x4. These are made for vinyl fencing ONLY. I am returning them.
