If you are truly interested in anchoring it more than simply the natural bond from the outside. 1 Most effective is to drill a 5/8 '' hole through the sides about 16'' down- equal on both sides- & then put a stainless steel nut, bolt & washer through it. 2nd take 100 grit sandpaper & rough up the bottom of the post before you pour the concrete & it will increase the bonding to the post base.
