I purchased this kit because I had the Veranda Linden fence panels purchased a few years back, which apparently are discontinued. The replacement Veranda Acadia fence panels are 3" taller, thus post routing is further apart. This gate kit would allow me to "re-use" 18 Linden panels for my gates. That is a big savings! This kit also requires you to use existing Rails (top and bottom panel supports) another good thing because I had combined a Linden panel and Acadia panel on a sloped section of yard, so I had two rails "to make three gates". That also was a big savings because you can't buy individual parts from the Acadia panel kit (unless there was a damaged kit at the local HomeDepot),This kit also, did not indicate that you need to install 2x3's within the vertical gate posts during construction so that all the screws have additional bite. My next disappointment/observation is the gap along the vertical edges, panels, and rail due to the method used to fit this all together. (But white vinyl silicon sealer will most likely fill/mitigate that void) The new Acadia gate kit (I also purchased had a thicker vertical post and the top/bottom rail was inserted inside the vertical post) was sturdier but required the purchase of additional Acadia fence kits to be sacrificed). The next issue was the need to purchase an aluminum post insert that was a stiffener for the post, it also gave more bite for the gate hinges instead of just the vinyl post. This stiffener had a shortcoming, that it doesn't provide adjacent facing surfaces along the post, it is an "H" beam and the hinges wrap around the post 90* thus some screws do not have that extra bite, but I feel a 2x4 or a 2x3 inserted along that aluminum surface within the hinge post will provide/solve that issue. The final disappointment was that the kit contents displayed that plastic hinge covers are provided and are installed once assembled and the gate is levelled, well my three gate kits that I purchased and installed did not have them, nor did another "new" kit that we opened in the store to give to me. If that kit had them, the PRO SERVICE Rep. was going to open two more. I didn't have them open the others because each kit would have to be marked down to sell. I decided instead to have her call the "Hinge" manufacturer listed in the directions. This was a BIG plus, my hinge covers are being shipped to me, within 5 days. Now the hinges would rust. Another short coming is the directions with measurements for post separation and latch dimensions, my panels are 6" wide, so in my case: 6 panels plus this kit, plus gaps due to brace screws yielded a gate ~43.5" wide without the latch. (directions state "X" -7" is gate width) try working with that direction with needing to cut adjacent panels to width. Also , there is NO handle to pull open the gate and latch can only be opened from one side of gate.

The gate sagged really bad after putting it together. I recommend buying a gate wheel to help keep it lifted.
