Brown is terribly inconsistent…
Bought about 30 bags of this on two separate occasions within a day of each other. The color and coarseness difference between the two batches is ridiculous! I initially notice the second purchase (on the right) was much more coarse but didn’t think too much of the color difference because it was still wet from being poured out of the bag…after letting it dry, the color difference is still there. Amazed at the terrible quality control of this product.

Brown Mulch Very Chunky
Purchased Vigoro mulch in black earlier in season and it wasn’t as chunky as most bagged mulch so it went down nicely between plants. Went back and black was sold out so purchased brown. Not even close to the same quality. Very chunky with 3-4 inch pieces mixed in. All 10 bags were like that.

Vigoro 2 cu ft bag of premium trash
So it’s always an adventure when purchasing Vigoro/Home Depot. The last time I think, was garden soil and found all kinds of metal and plastic. This time with this mulch, I got this chunk of metal (see pic). Can’t tell what type but it’s about 3-1/3”, several ounces and is magnetic. I guess you get what you pay for. Remember to ALWAYS wear thick gloves while dealing with any Vigoro product, you never know what you’ll encounter.

Brown color is not consistent from bag to bag
The quality if this mulch is horrible. First and foremost, the brown color from bag to bag is not consistent. Some bags are darker brown than others or more of a reddish brown. Other issues are there are huge chunks of wood in the bags, it is not shredded very well. Another issue is there was quite a bit of white mold in the bags. I purchased to mulch my front yard which is a big area but was very disappointed with the quality and color consistency of this mulch.

Colors are off
I buy these every year. Just a warning. Buy all your bags at the same time and the same pallet. The colors vary by lot. The pic shows where I bought 10 bags needed more went back in a few days and the color is darker. I even grabbed a few bags from a second pallet and they didn’t match. Good product just buy it all at onve

Poor quality with large chunks
Almost every bag of the 30 bags purchased had large chunks of unshredded wood in them. Besides the large chunks of wood I also found ground up trash including plastic wrappers. The price was great but will never buy this brand again.

Full of literal garbage. Chips are large.
Used this product a number of years ago and was pleased but this time the mulch was incredibly coarse. There was literally a log in one of the bags. Apart from that there were several pieces of garbage like bottle caps, shards of metal, plastic, etc.

Black mulch turned brown
Was adding to existing nice black mulch from last year and put out 30 bags of this year’s Vigoro black mulch. Very disappointed when all the hard work resulted in 2 very different looking mulches and the color did not remain. Terrible waste of time and money.
