It says "not for use on lawns." Why?

Answer This Question

This bone meal is formulated specifically for flowers, fruits, herbs, citrus, vegetables, and house plants. It provides phosphorus and calcium, which are essential for root development, flowering, and fruiting, but not necessarily the ideal nutrients for establishing and maintaining a healthy lawn. Lawns generally require a balanced fertilizer with higher nitrogen content to promote lush, green growth. Using this product on your lawn could lead to imbalanced nutrient levels and potentially harm your grass.

This product is amazing! I was doubting because there is a lot of offer in the counters. However, I did a bit of research and my plants are thriving.

I put bone meal fertilizer on my bulb bed every Fall to provide nutrients. I like the fact that the Vigoro food is not powdery, thus easier to spread without inadvertently inhaling.

Vigoro Organic Plant Food (Bone Meal)
I received this product from the SEEDS program. The product is easy to use, for house plants it should be used in the springtime according to packaging. It takes 1 T per 2" pot. I wanted to do an experiment. Since I like to have plants around the house, I decided to get two identical house plants (Dracaena 6" pots) in about in the same health. One plant 3T of the plant food was mixed in and then watered. Hopefully we'll see a difference!

Easy to use bone meal fertilizer pellets
I used the Vigoro Organic Bone Meal for the first time on a recently purchased Lenten Rose bush. Upon opening the package, I was pleased to notice there was not a strong, unpleasant odor to the product. It smelled a little like fertilizer, but not in an overpowering way. The Bone Meal was in a pelleted form so I soaked some to see how it would dissolve. After sitting for over an hour, the pellets were not dissolved, but the water was cloudy. See photo. This is good to know for how long they might last in the soil. I sprinkled the recommended dose, 2 Tbsp per 2 inch pot, and mixed into the soil then watered. The next day, I planted the Lenten Rose into the ground. It has been a week, and the plant looks healthy and green. I will be adding the Vigoro Bone Meal pellets to all my shrubs, potted plants and bulbs
