The Vigoro 84 in. Black Steel Traditional Double Shepherds Hook will help add beauty and charm to your outdoor gardens. This large shepherds hook has two hooks that are perfect for hanging baskets and planters, birdhouses and birdfeeders, wind chimes, ornamental lanterns, and other garden decor. The metal shepherds hook is made from a tubular design that provides added strength and helps to prevent bending under standard planter weights compared to traditional forged rods. The black powder-coated finished helps resist rust and weathering. The hanging basket shepherds hook can display baskets up to 14 in. in diameter, and will support up to a total of 15 lbs. of weight. (10 lbs. per hook max). You can easily install the garden shepherds hook by pressing the pointed tips fully into firm soil. Tip: If soil is hard or frozen, do not force the ground stake into position. Use warm water to moisten or thaw the soil. After inserting the hook into the ground, allow the soil to harden around the base of the hook before placing heavy objects on the hook.

Hi, yes this is one solid piece from top to bottom. We hope this answers your question. Thank you.
Yes, one solid piece. It was exactly what we were looking for. We use it for humming bird feeders
comes fully assembled.j
I purchased 2 of these and they were sold as 1 solid piece.
That is correct, one piece that is very strong.
Yes, all one piece. Just get it and stick it in the ground. Done.
Learn how to shoot so close to one of the little budgets that they crap themselves,!?
LOL! Those pesky raccoons!!! I would recommend using heavy duty U-shaped metal stakes (the kind used to anchor irrigation hoses in place) over the base of the shepherd’s hook pole where the horizontal bar connects the tops of two long spikes you push into the ground to erect the pole. Another option is to use a hammer or mallet to force the horizontal bar connecting the tops of base spikes 3 to 4 inches below the surface of the lawn to better anchor the pole, then place one or two heavy bricks or pavers on top. If all else fails, grease the pole heavily with Vaseline or an oil repeatedly. It works for squirrels and maybe the raccoons won’t like the way it feels on their devious little hands!!! You might also surround the pole with life size statues of dachshunds baring their teeth to see if that works on raccoons like scarecrows work on crows!!!
Get a good squirrel baffle. I have a great metal adjustable one that’s available in 2 different sizes from Farm n Fleet, AND make sure to put your feeders up in a wide open area so it’s impossible to jump on top of it from nearby higher places. I have no problems with raccoons but there are plenty of them around.
yes but touches pole
Barely. The hook comes out about 9"
It measures 11 inches from the center of the hook, to the pole. It should accommodate the width, but make sure not to exceed the weight capacity of 10 pounds per hook.
It would probably be okay for the weight, but it may be to big around and hit the main bar.
I measured and found that both hooks are 11 inches from the pole. A 16-in diameter basket should fit without a problem.
Hello, please contact your store associates at the Oviedo location regarding availability of the traditional double shepherd hook.
That would depend entirely on the ground it is in. We have some pretty rocky ground and I found moving it back and forth as you are putting it into the ground should help you get it all the way down. The problem is not that your stuff is light, but, when the wind starts blowing hard (as happened to us in a storm a couple days ago with 40-60 mph winds, the resistance could cause the hook to topple. I would try to get it down the rest of the way or move it to a spot where you can (sometimes only a few inches will do it) push it down all the way. Maybe try moving the stones back a bit and then put the pole into the ground. If you put your foot on the crossbar while working it into the ground (working it back and forth as mentioned earlier) you might just be able to get it in all the way. I don't think you are in far enough, based on the picture, to have it be very stable.
No
I have had the same problem. Solved it by hammering an 18 to 24 inch re-bar next to it and used small hose clamp to bind the two at the base. After 4 years, it is still standing.
The wind will probably eventually wiggle it loose and tip it over.....just move it a few inches and try again / put a sand bag over it to help hold it
Yup, but you can also hammer down on the cross bar to secure it more !
It's very lightweight, so I'm guessing it's hollow, just a hair shy of 1/2", and I believe rated for 15 lbs. hanging weight. I would not recommend anything over 15 lbs., and for heavy feeders you should get one with 4 feet that pound into the ground.
It seems to be solid...it is somewhat heavy.
The steel shaft is 1/2" tubing. I have hung two 18" tube bird feeders on one and had no bowing but I also tried it with heavy flower baskets (approx. 25 lbs) it it did bow .
I have two bird feeders on mine & it is just fine
This is solid. I bought 2, I have 2 bird feeders on one and 2 hummingbird feeders on the other. It's perfect

THE RIGHT STUFF FOR WHAT I NEEDED IT FOR.
Your best bet is to go on line and ask the store directly. Home Depot's main on line web page has a way to get to the store and in some cases a way to tell right from there if it is in stock.
