    Answer This Question

A:  Hi Teresa, This depends on the edging you're using. This spike is 1” wide. You will need to measure the edging opening for a spike/stake to assure this stake will fit. Good luck with your project!

      Answer This Question

A:  Hello Terri. No, the nails are not rust-proof. They are not galvanized with the intent that the nails will rust and stay in the ground better. Thank you for your question, happy landscaping!

Q:how many stakes do I need for Vigaro heavy-duty edging?
        by|Oct 6, 2022
        1 Answer
        Answer This Question

A:  Hi Charlie, the number of stakes required depends on several factors, including installation shape, soil type, and ground cover. For traditional landscape edging, we recommend that the stakes be placed no more than 5ft apart. Please review the installation guide for the landscape edging you plan to purchase, and it should provide the detail you need to choose an appropriate number of stakes. We hope this helps!

          Edging stakes work as expected.
Adequate to the task. This pack of stakes was a bit less hefty, less sharp, and more costly per stake than my previous purchase, but they worked as expected.

A CREATIVE USE FOR THIS PRODUCT I use these metal stakes to hold a rubber pad in place at the base of my driveway. (Because my curb is fairly tall, the pad prevents the curb from scraping the underside of my cars when I back down/drive up.) The metal stakes are pounded into a small section of the curb where there is an opening and normally last for up to a year before I have to replace them. After a year, the stakes get bent because of the force of cars going up/down; they also get slightly rusted because of the weather. For me, using and replacing the stakes is a small price to pay for not having to continually reposition the pad every few weeks.

These metal stakes are excellent quality, and getting them as a twelve-pack makes sense since I use them for other projects besides landscaping. In my garden, I use them to hold the plastic edging around the flower beds. I also use them with ropes to hold down plants during high winds. The 1-inch head is super heavy-duty; it is hard to bend when inserting the stakes on the ground. Compare my experience to other metal stakes; these are heavy-duty, larger width, the heads don’t bend and are easy to insert into the ground. When I go on family camping, I always take a few of these stakes that are convenient for many uses, like holding tents, tarps, meshes, sunshades, and other stuff. These are also great for lawn blow-up decorations and ornaments.

Vigoro 9.5 Inch metal stake have delivered at home in good condition. The stakes are very heavy and have enough length to install the edge. Installation was super easy. Insert into the ground with 45 degree angle and anchor with the v notch of edging. I installed in the 3' X 20' garden space in front of my house with Vigoro edge materials. I like the stake with edging.

The 9.5 inch metal stake is a solid anchor you can use for many projects around your home. I used mine to pierce through an old winter pool cover to secure it to the ground as landscape barrier. The sharp pointed end easily pierced through the cover and ground and the shaft stayed solid and did not bend going thorough the hard clay. I know in the past using the plastic anchors Tharp could not stand up to hard clay ground, these were a nice surprise.

These heavy duty metal stakes are used with Vigoro's heavy duty plastic edger. The 12 pack of stakes is adequate to secure a 50 ft roll of edger if you do not make too many tight curves. We used 11 stakes to lay the 50 ft in a gently curving half circle. The stakes are meant to be pounded directly thru the bottom "lip" of the edging material and then down in to the soil. Because our soil here in south FL is so sandy and so soft we were afraid that pounding the stakes into the bottom edge of the roll would push the roll itself deeper into the soil Therefore, we chose to drill a hole every 5 ft thru the bottom lip. This may not have been necessary and may have been overkill but it sure made securing the roll easy! It took us two old people less than 1 1/2 hrs to dig the 4 inch deep trench, secure the edger, back fill the soil and mulch. None of the stakes bent. When we tried to pull one up (as a test), we couldn't. The stakes are 9 inches long. That edger is not going anywhere!

Got Vigoro stakes last week to support my lawn edging (which surprisingly came with limited amount of stakes). The stakes are of great quality and very perfect length for my edging (5"). Going into the ground easily and hold edging well (I would add a little bit bending on top to have kinda hook around the top of edging). Some edges of stakes may feel sharp - so use gloves when installing. The thing I am question: how long will they survive in the soil (I am putting them for good!)? It is galvanized steel and corrosion should be slow in the beginning. Time will tell.. Happy DIYing!

Does the job! These are a pack of sturdy aluminum stakes, suitable for use as a general stake in the garden, or for anchoring. They have a v-shape, which is beneficial for inserting the stake into the ground, and also improves the rigidity of the stake, in that it is more difficult to bend. The could be used for anchoring wire or string trellises, for example, or for staking string around a garden plot. I also tried this stake to improve the anchoring of a garden hook, which was lopsided no matter where I tried inserting it. I inserted the stake perpendicular to the hook anchor, and it doesn't flop over sideways any more, which will be especially beneficial once a heavy hanging basket is attached. The 12 pack is handy for installing a garden plot perimeter and is plenty for general staking use. Recommended.

These are very strong stakes, At first I used them to hold my landscaping fence in place to help straighten it out. Then once the sun warmed that up I use them anchor the landscaping fence into the ground. There are 12 stakes in the pack So if you place then 5 ft. apart they go further then I thought. Hammer them in at the 45 degree angle and it holds the fence in place and make it more secure.
