Pine straw is generally used more as a mulch and for preventing weed growth, as well as for its decorative properties under trees and around shrubs. If you are trying to germinate grass seed, try wheat straw!
I think bag listed 2.2 c.f. but I know it was at least 2. Because it was dry it seemed to cover more ground than some of the unpacked bales I have used.
