This is not thick enough to last outdoors. Rats and mice can chew through it. I used it on my screened porch to keep rain out, but it was temporary.

The vinyl takes to adhesives very well so this should work.

How it is 16 mil compared to gauge?

Asked by Jorge November 14, 2019

"gauge" is a measurement system that should not ever be used anymore, particularity with the fact that the answer would change depending on what material we are talking about. To answer your question though, 16 mil is 0.4064 millimeters. That is approximately 26 gauge carbon steel sheet thickness.

does the tape hold to wood framing

Asked by nicola October 6, 2019

The vinyl itself has no adhesive quality so it depends on the tape.

Super strong
Super strong. Perfect for winterizing spa gazebo windows to keep the snow and wind out.
Vinyl Storm Windows
Both outside edges of this vinyl were wavy and uneven about 6 inches in and therefore had to be trimmed off for the purpose of stretching this product evenly over wood frame to make storm windows. Luckily due to my window sizes I would have wasted this amount of vinyl anyway. Works great as veranda storm windows!

Very thick and clear
I hope it will last, wish it was UV protected if it last a few years it will be worth it.

4-1/2 ft. x 45 ft. Clear 16 mil Supreme Multipurpose Vinyl
This is the second roll I've ordered. It is being used to cover a screened porch for the winter. To my delight, this roll is clearer than the first. Seems like Home Depot has a product quality challenge.

Good Transaction
Very thick vinyl. We bought it to go over our windows, on the inside, for the winter. I have kitties, so needed something that wouldn't easily tear. One has already pawed a bunch at one window with plastic over it, and no punctures! The plastic is a bit difficult to cut into even squares/rectangles (they turn out more like parallelograms because of the way the plastic lays not completely flat, but somewhat bubbled). On most windows it worked great. On one, it fell down. But we think the tape was pulled too much on that one trying to get the plastic taught. Still have several more windows to go. In theory, the pieces should be reuseable for next year. The tape sticks unusually well to the plastic though. So, either it's going to stay on the edges when reused, or the edges will have a lot of adhesive film on them, as we saw when trying to redo some of the tape. The plastic is quite clear, as you may be able to see by my photos. Not as clear as a newly washed glass window, but far more clear than the foggy plastic used as drop cloths.

Good product for the price
The 16 mil vinyl is very thick, and looks a lot nicer than I expected. My one problem is that the end was not exactly square, so I lost about a foot from having to cut the sheet square. This is a very good temporary window, if you install it correctly and understand that there will be wrinkles no matter what you do.
