4.2 Amp 3-3/8 in. Plunge Cut Compact Circular Saw with Laser, Carrying Case, and 3-Blades

Used this to cut fiberglass reinforced polymer architectural columns. Diamond blade worked very well. I'm glad I took some test cuts, because out of the box, the lazer was out of line with guide notch. Discovered quickly that the guide notch was also out of line with the blade, as well, making my test cut about 1 full quarter inch off. Once I made the adjustments, which should always be there first thing one does anyway, it cut true and accurately and smoothly. I like the extra long vacuum hose that fit right up to my shop vac. The reason I did not give 5 stars is because having to hold the plunge release down during the entire cut began to be tiresome, and ergonomically the power button could have been placed a little better. Probably just a matter of taste and technique. I'm glad this tool is in my arsenal! Shipping was fast, even for being during a pandemic!

I bought this saw for one purpose to cut toe area from three pantry cabinets that were a bit tall for pantry area. I wanted a light weight, easily controlled saw to cut 2 3/4 inches off bottom of cabinets My rating for this saw is as follows: Concept 5 stars, seemed to have a number of good ideas Design/Engineering 2 stars, good ideas didn't work Manufacturing 4 stars, generally tight, sound and clean assembly with one exception Quality Control 1 star, is no one inspecting these This saw appeared to have all and innovative features I'd want in light weight saw. But I found saw awkward and difficult to operate. Motor body is a bit large to comfortable hold. Hand position that is best for power switch does not work well with thumb blade release. I had trouble keeping the saw running while pressing switch and saw to keep blade extended Screw on saw plate was cross threaded during assembly, did not seat fully in recess and passed thru inspection and was shipped. Cutting with saw it slide smoothly at first then hung up repeatedly. The cross threaded screw's leading edge extended above saw plate and was digging into side of cabinet. Depth stop did not hold so every cut was full depth, a good idea but poorly engineered. Vacuum attachment hose was another innovative feature that didn't pass production. Hose attaches to side of blade housing and theory is connect to vacuum and saw dust will be vacuumed away as you cut. The hose was creased in three places when packaged in carrying case this made hose useless. On the plus side the saw guide, which I'd expected to be my greatest concern, held up and preformed quite well.

There is also is a laser located on top of the saw to indicate the line of your cut.

Love this circular saw. It only goes up to an inch deep, but that is all I need for most projects where I would use this hand tool. It beats sawing by hand! I like everything from the long cord to the grip. The safety features assure me that I won't cut off my fingers! I like the petite quality to it and the carrying case is a huge plus! When done with a project, just pack it up and it goes nicely on a shelf. It has a 2 year warranty, and comes with a metal cutting blade, a wood blade and a tile blade. Also, in the box is a dust collector tube. I did my project outside and did not need this, but it was cool to see it work. Sure made clean up a breeze.

The WEN 4.2 Amp Mini Circular Saw is the perfect tool for all my small projects around the house. The saw is compact, lightweight and make cuts quickly and easily. It comes with a soft metal cutting blade, a diamond-coated tile-cutting blade, a carbide-tipped wood cutting blade, a 4.75 in. rip fence and a 80 in. dust extraction tube that will attach to my small shop vac. My first project was cutting a metal frame for my pump house window screen. I was able to make precise cuts easily for a perfect fit. This saw for sure met my expectations.

This I think is my 4th or 5th WEN tool and I couldn't be happier. I watched a Youtube video of a few of these and to me this beats them all hands down. First it comes in a great carrying case with storage for the saw, the three included blades and a very long exhaust tube with an end to fit most small shop vacs. When I want to do a quick, small job, I will grab this rather than my larger 7.25 circular saw. Blades included are for wood, and this blade is sharp. Just inspecting it almost caused injury. A blade for light metal and plactic, and one for tile. I can't imagine needing anything else for the small jobs. Two minutes to pull it out of the case, hook up the exhaust hose, and you are ready to go.

I do a lot of detail work so I was excited to get this tool in my shop. Overall I am very pleased to have this. It is very powerful for it's size. I can cut furniture grade plywood like a hot knife through butter and I did a plunge cut into teak and it is competent but I did take care. I really like how easy it is to set the depth of cut. Flip up the yellow clip and set it. When you use the tool it goes to that point and it is an accurate cut. Particularly if you are cutting to depth instead of cutting to divide (cutting to depth like creating a rabbet joint for example). I was not very hopeful for the dust collector. While I liked the connector, the hose struck me as a bit small. I had to add a bit of duct tape to the plug to make it bigger so it would seal in my shop vac hose. I used it with and with out the dust collector. The dust collector works and it is essential if you want to limit wood dust or even worse, ceramic dust. And I don't trust the chemicals they use in composite flooring made overseas floating in the air. Sure even when the dust collector is on and running, there is some dust on the tool, particularly the shoe. Run it without dust collection and you have a heck of a mess and a lot more fine particulate in the air. The wood cuts are very clean - minimal to no splintering and very clean edges. Nothing to sand before glue and nails. Ceramics are much more variable. Some materials like slate are always challenging. A good ceramic is okay. Some pottery tiles can either cut easy or break like glass. Depends on the materials and the firing. My only complaint is the controls to start it up and release the blade through the shoe. One pulls back and one pushes forward. It takes a bit to master but once I did, it is fine. Pros: Powerful for it's size Good Blades shipped with the unit I love the depth set clip. Really easy and very accurate Great construction - very solid Nice case Cons Controls take a bit to master - push release and than pull power on - once you get it figured out, it's fine If you cut flooring, plywood or ceramic tiles this is a great saw for your inventory. If you are into crafts and like to make small wood things, this is also a great tool. Much better than hauling out a full size circular saw. Happy to have this in my shop.

This was perfect, i do a lot of DIY projects around my home and needed a small compact saw this worked like a charm and was perfect for the job. i even used it a few other things made cutting wood and PVC easy.

Used the plunge saw with a diamond blade to cut some tile. First of all, all the shields and plunge mechanisms cover the blade so completely that you cannot actually see the blade making contact with the product you are cutting. This made it impossible to make the cut where I wanted it. After about 5 minutes of cutting, the plunge mechanism jambed, making further cuts impossible. I tried cleaning all the mechanisms but was unable to make the saw plunge without pushing on the bar near the blade.

Having only used it for one small job it difficult to review but it worked well on the one small job I bought it for. There's a small button on the power switch that looks like should have some function. There's no mention of it in the owner's manual and my two emails to Wen support have gone unanswered. So that might be a reason to be cautious about buying Wen tools; if they can't answer a simple question, how much faith do you put in their warranty?
