Ordered this product on Saturday and got it on Wednesday you can't beat that. If you ever have an issue with your hotpoint refrigerator, and the issue is your freezer is keeping things frozen, but the fridge is not keeping your refrigerated items very cool then chances are this product is your issue. Removal and installation is pretty simple if you are handy with tools. Remove everything on the removable shelves in your freezer, and then pop out the shelving units. Remove the lower slide in drawer from the freezer as well. Remove the plastic light cover and the bulb. At the top of the rear panel you'll see 2 little bolts that require a 6.5mm 1/4" socket to remove. Remove those and remove the rear panel. As you're removing the rear panel you'll see a ground wire attached to the top of the panel it simply slides up and it comes off the panel. Your defrost heater is located right behind the panel at the bottom of the cooling coils, and it's held in place by 2 Phillips head screws. Remove those and unplug the heater and replace..Bingo you just saved yourself a few hundred bucks

When my fridge stopped getting cold enough, I googled the issue and saw a likely cause was a burned out defroster element. I ordered part from HD, got it 4 days later and installed it with the ease. Fridge works great and I saved $300 on service costs!

I put in this part that costs less then $20 myself in about 30 seconds when the repair company couldn’t get the “certified” part in (and wanted to charge me $90 for the part plus another $100 for the labor). I have been keeping a close eye on the temperature for the last 2 months, so far so good.
