The engineers at Werner designed this to safely fit Werner brand ladders. Not a different brand. Why don't you be safe and just buy the one that Louisville designed for their ladders.

best way is to look up the model number on Werner's site. they used to have a decent list of compatible models. having said that, i have the 24 foot variety of this ladder, and it works very nicely.

It works for stairs?

Its a bit wide to fit from one stair to the next. It may work on the top stair and bottom stair, but not a middle one. That also depends on the height of your risers. Though most should be within the height adjustment.

Purchased for use on a Werner MT-22 multi-ladder. Had to drill holes through the side ladder rails to install the two mounting rails (per Werner instructions). Caught me slightly by surprise when they specified drilling those holes with an 11/32" drill bit (I didn't have that size). I drilled them with a 5/16" drill bit then ground them out a bit w/ a rotary tool and all was good. End result was an adjustable leg that I can adjust up/down using a foot on that side of the ladder while I manipulate the ladder with both hands... yielding a very stable ladder footing. Happy.

Outstanding add-on; great for bi-level property
Today I purchased the 32' Werner aluminum extension ladder D1300 series, along with these leg levelers. It took me about 20-25 minutes to install the brackets onto the ladder (you need a drill, metal drill bit size 11/32", tape measure, 1/2" socket, ratchet, marker, a center punch, 0-40ft/lb. torque wrench (optional) and some basic shop/mechanic know-how). Sequence of install is measure, mark, check measurements on marks, line up braces, if good to go...center punch middle of marks, then begin to drill, once holes are drilled glue (provided) spacers to braces and line up...then insert bolt, washers and lock nut and tighten. once hand tightened instructions recommend a 9 ft/lb. tighten. Please pay attention to what type of ladder you have so as to match the application of this item to your respective ladder. It works on four different type of ladders...rung and plate, direct swage with bracing, direct swage w/o bracing "which is the D1300 model", and the telescoping multi-ladder. Applicability to your ladder can be found in the product description area. After installing the braces, the fastening of the leg leveler is cakewalk. It literally takes 5 seconds to attach and extend and just as much time to take off. It is very sturdy. I extended my ladder to 25 feet on uneven ground and climbed to the top...no wobbling, shifting or any kind of weakness or instability indicated. Sturdy construction with heavy duty metal spring and metal geared teeth. Also has locking pin for added safety after the press lock engages. The step down lever makes it that much more easy to use... don't have to bend over to extend leg, just flip lever outward and step on it to extend leg...that easy! And to retract leg all you have to do is tap the top lever and it will retract. Simplistic and solid. A little pricey but definitely well worth it. Extends to about 8.5" more as advertised. Pictures attached show about a 4" high step.

I really like this Werner ladder leveler. It worked perfectly for me when I need to reach to the top of my stairwell. I was able to turn the ladder sideways and go up and down the stairs without any issues. A life saver for taping and painting accurately. Installation is pretty easy if you follow directions. Read the directions. Measure twice, drill once. This is a must have is you use your ladder on stairs or any uneven ground. A lot safer than putting a brick, board or whatever under one of the feet.

This worked perfectly and for $100 now gives me confidence when painting in high spots on or above stair cases. Easy to install (took less than 15 minutes). Very durable, very stable.

Does not work on staircase. Drilling required.
I bought this to use on staircase, however, after drilling the ladder and installed the extender, realized that it does not extend enough to reach to steps down. And the ladder is too wide to be used only one step down. I still had to use block if wood to raise it by 4 inches or so, and use the extender for final adjustment. Useless.
