Questions & Answers

Can I use this with bear direct to metal paint?
ByFeb 11, 2026
1 Answer |
Answer This Question

Yes, any water based or oil-based paint, stain, or finish, is fine in the Flexio HVLP sprayer. We suggest thinning by 5-10% and mixing with a paddle in a drill, for better atomization. The iSpray nozzle that comes with the Flexio 2500 will give you a roller like finish. If you want a smoother finish, you need the Detail Finish nozzle for finer atomization. It's part #529013 and it comes with the 3500 model, or it can be added to the 2500.

Can I use the sprayer with Asphaltic paint , horse fence paint?
    ByJan 15, 2026
    1 Answer |
    Answer This Question

Yes, as long as it's thin enough to spray and it can be cleaned up using mineral spirits, it should be fine. If it's a quick drying material, don't let it sit in the gun during your breaks. Good luck with your projects.

Can I paint overhead with it
            ByOct 31, 2025
            1 Answer |
            Answer This Question

Yes you can paint overhead, but only at a 45 degree angle. If you add the 24" HVLP extension, you can then tilt up at 60 degrees. See the extension here - https://www.homedepot.com/p/Wagner-HVLP-Extension-2449592/325231990

If you feel a little container up with paint, what’s the square footage of faint paint they’ll be sprayed
              BySep 17, 2025
              1 Answer |
              Answer This Question

The Flexio 2500 comes with air power control and paint flow rate control. Both can affect how far the paint will go on your project. If your paint says it will cover 400ft per gallon, that's about what the sprayer will do when adjusted correctly. It's safe to figure about 50-100sq ft per paint container full with the 2500 iSpray front end nozzle.

I love to shoot paint with this gun BUT!!!
I love to shoot paints through this gun both oil based and water based. It has lots of adjustments on it and I can even put different types of textures on surfaces by adjusting fan speed, viscosity, distance, trigger pull, etc. Easy to transport, I use it for my business and get Great customer comments. It is decently fast. BUT!...be prepared to sell your soul to the devil when cleaning oil based paints, like enamel, put through it. Water based paints are no problem and I use my water pik to clean the air passages. Oil based is a different story. be prepared to go to your local hobby store and pick up multiple diameter wooden dowels, 1/8 up to 1/4 inch, cotton tipped applicators, all manner of brushes, rags or heavy duty paper towels (like the blue ones), solvent resistant gloves, and table and chair available. Why? I tried to upload photos, but in short, the engineers designed the two air caps with a labyrinth of passages and spaces and the cup has finger ridges that translate to ridges inside the cup and a cup neck that is hard to get to. Anyone who says its easy to clean is probably only shooting water based products through it. Still it is an important piece of equipment in my arsenal of painting equipment.

                    First time paint sprayer user
Staining the brick on the front of my house. Spraying it is going to give it a much better coverage than any type of brushes. This was easy to learn and easy to use. Sprayed the front in under 2 hours each coat and had a nice total coverage in two coats. Clean up was easy and quick both times. I plan on using it to do indoor painting next. Already is worth it’s cost.

                      Unacceptable finish
This sprayer produced a very rough finish compared to brushing/rolling the same paint on the same wood. And after an hour it suddenly began splattering paint (see pic). The user manual didn't have any advice for these problems.

Thanks for your review. The Flexio 2500 comes with the iSpray nozzle, which is set up for your fence, deck, and walls and it will leave a roller like texture when using thick paints. For a fine finish, on wood, trim, furniture or cabinetry, you should add the Detail Finish nozzle (529013) for finer atomization. It comes in the Flexio 3500 kit, or you can buy it separately.
Also, there are a few things you can do to paint/stain to ensure it sprays well.
1 - Stir the paint/stain with a mixer in a drill until its creamy smooth, about 1 min per gallon
2 - Strain the paint/stain before it goes into the sprayer
3 - Add a flow agent, like Floetrol or Paint Easy (this is not a thinner) for latex paint – Penetrol for oil based
4 - Or you can thin, even as little as 5% can make a big difference, water for water-based materials and mineral spirits for oil-based material. Up to 20% is fine.

Worked for 15 minutes, then died
Worked great for 15-20 minutes, then died completely. No noise, no paint, no nothin’. Fully flatlined. I tried returning it, but Home Depot’s Kafka-esque computerized return system wouldn’t allow it. Nobody in the store could do anything about it or even explain why I couldn’t return it. The computer says no. Goodbye. Needless to say, I’m not happy. I’m attaching a photo of the receipt in hopes that someone from Home Depot will explain why they’re sticking a hood customer with faulty merchandise

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This sprayer is a step up from the smaller sprayers I have used. It is similar in the way it works but is very sturdy and would be great for large jobs. I used it on a some smaller pieces of furniture but can’t wait to try it on a big project! I think it will be the shed! It is a bit heavy but has a large cup so you won’t have to keep filling it. The spray adjustments are all the same as most smaller models but it has an extra power button (Hi/Lo). Make sure to read up on the suggest material setting guide for different types of materials. It really helps get the best results. My side tables turned out great and took maybe 30 minutes. Set up and clean up take longer!

                            Decent sprayer for thinner paints
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used the Flexio 2500 to prime and paint a couple hundred feet of trim before installing it. Some of it was a 4x8 sheet of plywood, some was raw pine and some was pre-primed trim. The primer was a stain blocking water proof primer and it went on nicely, providing a good even coat without any dilution. After letting set overnight, I tried to spray Sherwin Williams acrylic enamel trim paint, which was a much thicker product. The sprayer was not able to handle that thicker paint without diluting with Floetrol. One I got it diluted down with 6 oz in a gallon, it flowed OK. Unfortunately I didn’t have more Floetrol to dilute further which I think would have given a better finish. The sprayer worked well spraying lots of different angles to get to five sides of some of the trim pieces. My biggest complaints on the sprayer are the short plug cord had the junction with the extension cord right so close to the sprayer that while moving to spray at different angles, I several times disconnected it and ended up tying the cords together. Having a longer cord would have reduced the tension on the connection. The second was I didn’t find the cleaning instructions very clear, there was a brush included but I wasn’t sure what that was to be used for. Running lots of water through several times and scrubbing the outside surfaces by hand seemed to take care of cleaning it up.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I found this Flexio 2500 sprayer to be an effective sprayer for small to medium projects. I've used it for cabinets and cabinet doors along with difficult to paint projects like wreaths. I've found it tobe somewhat sensitive to paint viscosity. I tend to use water based latex paints and found that thorough mixing and thinning to be critical in getting a good spray pattern and avoiding sptting/ splatter.

It took longer to prep than spray my ramp on the shed (5min). Powerful motor, liked the new liner inserts, easy to adjust thickness of stain to spray, quick and easy cleanup.

                                    Wagner 2500 is a Winner
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I primarily use my Wagner for woodworking and furniture pieces, both for finish coats as well as paint. I liked the nimbleness of the 2500 over the 3500, I found it much easier to use in tight spots such as inside cabinets. Although the 2500 doesn't have as much spray control as the 3500, I didn't find that to be an issue. I also seemed to get more consistent layer control with the 2500. The Poly I sprayed laid down smooth. On the Paint, it layered well. I did see a little bit of build-up on my overlaps, but I may have not been consistent with my strokes. Overall, the 2500 is great value for the price.
