A:  The "other ingredients" in bird food are a food supply for other insects. Make sure the top of the bag is folded and then folded again. Use a large metal binder clip to secure the fold and keep the bag in a cool place out of the sun. Hope this helps! Good Luck.

A:  Sounds like you have pantry moths. I've gotten them from bags of bird seed. They are easy to catch though--buy some pheromone traps. They fly right in and get stuck on the sticky surface.

A:  It's quite normal for birds to go through a feeder in a day, especially in Spring. I have 4 seed feeders up every morning and by dinner time, they are empty. My hummingbird feeders are about half empty each day. In the summer I fill the hummers' feeders every day and keep an eye on them and refill if they empty before dinner time. Different breeds of birds like different seed. Cardinals love black oiled sunflower seeds, corn, safflower. Others like Nyjer seed, peanuts. I add more sunflower seeds to the Economy bag to attract more birds. Be sure to have some water for them too. I find this site quite helpful with many bird questions. https://www.thespruce.com/how-to-choose-the-best-birdseed-386541

A:  Yes, if you have a small size feeder. I had a smaller one and filled it twice a day between the birds and squirrels. Every bird likes different things out of the seeds. If you are looking to make all types of birds happy then I would continue buying this type of feed.

A:  The birds toss out and pick at the seeds to find the seeds that they prefer. Much the same as what people do when they sift through a bowl of Jelly Belly jelly beans. Digging for their favorites. The mixture of seeds in the Wagner's 20 lb bag of seeds is designed to include favorites for a variety of birds. Going through a feeder in a day can be quite normal. Especially if you have a lot of birds in your area and limited food sources other than your feeder. Also it can depend on time of year. Natural food sources are limited during the winter and early spring.

A:  No. The birds are picking only the seeds they like to eat. Check the mixture of ingredients in the bag. You might want to change to a different brand. I tried the same bird food and only the crows came to the area where birds had pushed out the food. I changed to a different brand, spent a few dollars more and the birds came back. Hope this will help! Good luck.

A:  I fill mine about every two days, they seem to be digging out the sunflower seeds!! and then the mourning doves and cardinals and bluejays eat the seeds on the ground, and the chipmunks!!! I think hanging the suet next to the seed helps

A:  I have never looked. Product has always seemed fine and the birds have never turned their beaks up at it ;>) In other words, they eat it too fast to worry about an expiration date. Hope that helped!

A:  You shouldn't worry about "expiration dates" on bird seed. The seeds aren't spoiled or moldy. Dried grains and seeds aren't going to harm any birds by being over the sell-by date.

A:  If there is no "sell by" or expiration date, you can call the manufacturer directly on the bag and give the numbers you saw on the bag to get the "shelf life" of the food, or go online to the company website to contact. Hope this helps!

                        An absolute scam
I'm on a low income but love feeding the birds. Been buying this the past few months; it's always been light on white millet so I get that separately to mix with it. This week I went to get more. Not only has it gone up $2 per bag but, where's ANY white millet?! Very sneaky of Wagner's, let's just take out the more expensive and popular millet plus raise the price, hey! I am so disgusted with Wagner's, shame on them. (Took photos but they won't upload.)

Big or small all the birds appear to enjoy something in this mix
Now that the fall weather has set in the birds are a lot more interested. The feeder is suction-cupped to the work from home office window and there is so much natural food around here that the birds didn't need to get close. The seem comfortable having us watch from so close now that it is cooler and they have had some time to get used to it. It really provides some entertainment and a break during the day for us. We'll probably get a lot of visitors when winter arrives.

I've bought 100 lbs of various seeds every 3 or 4 weeks at various locations around my house. Home Depot is the only one that hasn't had insects, mold/fungus, or excessive twigs in it. It takes the birds very little time to eat it all. And, the seed is viable so you can let it sit on the ground and it'll grow and provide more seed.

The young squirrels have never seen an ear of corn. It was fun to watch them approach it and back away at squirrel speed. By the second day they got more used to it and on the third day they were tearing it up. They love to eat it and they love to play with it

I returned the 20lb bag of Wild Bird Seed because it was not being eaten by my backyard birds in Alameda. It was full of red bb sized milo and it would just end up on the ground and even the Towies would not eat it. As a new bird watcher I have much to learn. If you start feeding birds I recommend going online and read about bird seed and what is liked by birds and not liked. What I found is that the cheapest bird seed is definitely not the best for birds. It's not even liked by birds. So stay away from Milo seeds (sorghum) it is used a a cheap filler in the mixes. The best food is Black Sunflower seeds, whole or shelled, and White Proso Millet. If you want to buy from Homedepot then try the Birders Blend it also has Safflower seeds and a minimum of Milo seeds. BTW Squirrel's also love bird seed. Happy Birding.
