Questions & Answers

how would this be held down on a roof?

how would this be held down on a roof?
Asked by: bill
Check your local code. In my area it is common to use a roofing nail with the 1 in plastic disk. Also can use roofing nails and the separate metal disk. I use the metal disk on small jobs because I use a pneumatic roofing nailer. If I were using a hammer I would get the nails all ready in the plastic disk. Staples are not allowed by code in my area.

Can I use this material to line 24" deep x 90" long wire garage shelves?

Can I use this material to line 24" deep x 90" long wire garage shelves?
Asked by: Stolizino
The material doesn't seem to be tacky and it unrolls easily. Far cheaper than ridiculously overpriced plastic shelf liner. I trimmed it to 24" width with a box cutter with no issues, placed it on the shelves in a concave fashion so it doesn't roll up at the ends. If it becomes tacky or stains or otherwise degrades, I'll write an update.

Which would be better roof #15 or 30?

Asked by: Noel
Short answer: Use #30. Long answer: Even though #30 is twice the price of #15, asphalt roofing felt is one of the least expensive parts of your roof. Why invest in all the other expensive parts and the expensive labor, just to save a few bucks on the felt? The #30 is far more durable and long-lasting than #15.

is this a better option to use with drywall for kitchen wall installation instead of greenboard as a moisture barrier?

I was told this by a contractor. And that greenboard fails over time.
Asked by: Theo
Drywall is fine in the kitchen just use the proper paint or tile on top if using any and should be fine. Kitchen is not considered a high moisture area so regular drywall will be fine. Green board is used where moisture is built up like a bathroom . I would not use felt paper in this application. Seek another professional
