Answer This Question

A:  Thanks for reaching out, Rosemarie! We are not able to recommend the Rust-Oleum Watco Danish Oil for areas that in direct contact with food as it's not approved for that kind of application. Instead, consider the Watco Butcher Block Oil as this is designed to be used on areas that are in direct food contact. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Watco-1-pt-Clear-Butcher-Block-Oil-4-Pack-241758/205113777 - Rust-Oleum Product Support 1

A:  Yes, either type. BUT, you MUST let the Danish Oil dry fully. I'd suggest waiting 5-7 days then you will be good to go.

A:  We appreciate your interest! Rust-Oleum Watco Danish Oil can be topcoated with the Rust-Oleum Varathane Oil-based Polyurethane after allowing 3 days of drying and the water-based version can be used after 5 days of drying. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5

        Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for reaching out! Rust-Oleum Watco Danish Oil is not recommended for floors. The product is not formulated to resist the abrasion experienced on a floor or withstand the foot traffic. Instead, consider Rust-Oleum Varathane Floor Finish Oil-Based. Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your response. Rust-Oleum Watco Danish Oil must be applied to a bare wood surface in order to penetrate and dry properly. It would not be able to dry if applied over an existing finish. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5

The product was easy to apply and looked wonderful on pine. I only did the one coat, it said to put a second on, but I didn't see any hue difference, only more product to wipe off. I ended up using 8 cans of the stuff, I wish I could have found a gallon container. The best point for me was it was a one step, no staining-drying- and two costs of poly with drying in between.

I like simple finishes. This fits the bill. The oil penetrates the wood and brings out the natural grain. That's what I like about woodworking. The varnish provides a good finish to protect the object.

I made two Vases (pencil holders) on my wood lathe out of a very difficult wood, mesquite. The wood has several natural defects and a beautiful wood grain pattern. I needed a hand rubbed finish that would highlight the grain patterns without having to apply a high gloss coat. The Danish oil does the job extremely well with minimal effort, just light rubbing until it's soaked into the grain. It usually takes two to three minutes for a small project.

Excellent stain currently on the market today. Only problem is that Home Depot cannot keep it on the shelfs, as they only stock 1 case then you have to wait a month or more for a new shipment to arrive.
Excellent stain in cold weather months
