Questions & Answers

Can this be used as a protective layer on metal/ steel tools after stripping away rust?

1 Answer |
Answer This Question

Let's see if we can clear things up, Gary. Rust-Oleum Watco Rejuvenating Oil is intended for wood surfaces only. This product penetrates the pores of the wood to renew the luster, it will not be effective for metal surfaces. -Rust-Oleum Product Support 14

      Answer This Question

We appreciate you taking a moment to reach out to us! Rust-Oleum Watco Rejuvenating Oil is not for exterior use. Instead, you may consider using Rust-Oleum Watco Exterior Wood Finish. This will penetrate the wooden surface, providing a natural wood look. Additionally, this may require periodic reapplication. As always, a small test should be done to ensure a favorable result is achieved. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Watco-1-gal-Natural-Oil-Wood-Finish-2-Pack-67731/204803632 - Rust-Oleum Product Support 10

My kitchen cabinets are bout 40 years old. The hardwood is in good shape, but what looks to be a lacquer finish looks pretty tired. Is this a good product to reawaken the old lacquer finish? How long can I expect it to last?

            Answer This Question

Happy to clear things up, Ronald! Rust-Oleum Watco Rejuvenating Oil is intended to be used on wood surfaces previously finished with an oil. If needing to refresh the lacquer finish, we recommend applying a new coat of lacquer. Rust-Oleum Watco Lacquer can be used over previously finished surfaces without the need to completely strip the coating. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Watco-1-qt-Clear-Gloss-Lacquer-Wood-Finish-63041/305562510 - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3

I have custom-built wooden cabinets for each kitchen and each bath vanity for 6 RENTAL units. That's a total of approximately 60 cabinets + 24 drawers. These were originally installed in 1985 and were initially finished with Watco Danish Oil. Every 10 -15 years, they are cleaned and revived with Watco Rejuvenating Oil. Even with tenant turnover, these cabinets look as good (if not better) than the day they were installed.

I love this product. I used Watco Rejuvenating Oil to renew the wood veneer finish on my vintage JBL speakers. I used a microfiber towel to apply the oil. Apply the oil generously, wait approximately ten to twenty minutes for proper absorption, then wipe dry to remove any excess oil. It stores the finish and makes it look new again. Very pleased with the results.

This oil is the best wood revitalizer. It does not look real. I attached a photo of a very old project cabinet that has been sanded down. The only thing I did was wipe this Watco oil on it.

This is a wonderful product that brings new life to wood products. Living in a historic home we use it annually to rejuvenate our antique furnishings and exterior wood doors. This weekend, I used it on the bench shown in the attached picture. I couldn't live without this product!
