Fast drying formula provides superior protection against moisture and penetrates deeply into the surface of stained or unfinished wood for a genuine, hand rubbed finish. Watco Tung Oil will not darken with age and can be reapplied periodically for increased gloss or to refresh wood luster over time.

How much tung oil is in it?

The mantle I coated (2 coats) is 80" L x 12" W x 3" Thk. I used only about 1/8 of the can. Could have bought a smaller can. Guess I need to find some new products!

Thank you for reaching out! Our Watco Tung Oil must be wiped thoroughly with a lint-free cloth after flood coating the surface to remove the excess oil. This oil penetrates and cures within the wood, rather than on the surface, and may not be left on top of the wood as a protective coating as a polyurethane would. You can use a cloth dampened with mineral spirits to reactivate and remove the tacky oil on the surface, then buff the surface to ensure proper curing of the oil.
