Q:Can the topper be removed for cleaning and to get the hair out?

Answer This Question

A:  The hair and other foreign debris items remaing on top of the grid strainer to remove. No need to remove the Universal NuFit product. However, if a pn adapter was used instead of the silicone, then it's simple to remove the Universal NuFit out of the drain. Just unthread the drain in a counter-clockwise manner. The "cleanout" overflow plate is actually where plumbers go to clean out the bathtub drain if there's a clog. Watco is the Choice of the Professionals.

    The funny thing about this product is the original drain...
    The funny thing about this product is the original drain was a watco. It was 30 years old and my contractor recommended this new version as opposed to the original screw in? Hopefully it will clean around drain fine and won't pull off from weakened silicone, So far so good.

        Great Fix for my tub.
        My old bathtub stopper and plug to drain the water was a mess. The wall pipe had to be cut off and repurposed. It is a wonderful fix. Now the hair and other incidentals get caught before they go down the drain and that is an easy fix. The tub stopper moves so well and I would do it again in a minute.

          Easy to install
          My company Sterling Refinishing uses NuFit after refinishing a bathtub. This product works and looks great. Easy to install no special tools, only a screwdriver. I have had the silicone kit be dried up when I open the package other than that I recommend the product.

          Brass reversible Combo 3/8-5/16 in. pin works perfectly for those drains that have cross bars and "in-tact" cross threads....Silicone is best used when there are broken cross bars. Silicone can be removed by using a small putty knife and working your way through the silicone between the drain flange and the Universal NuFit stopper that is secured by the silicone.
