About This Product

Pressure-Treated Pine meets the highest grading standards for strength and appearance. Treated for protection against fungal decay, rot and termites, it is ideal for ground contact and a variety of general uses including exposed structures, sill plates, decks, docks, ramps and other outdoor applications. Responsibly manufactured from renewable southern yellow pine, this lumber is both safe and environmentally friendly when used as directed in appropriate applications.Treated wood is typically still wet when it's delivered to The Home Depot or job site. As it dries, you should expect slight changes in width and length. As lumber dries, it may split, cup and warp. This is more likely to occur to occur in lower-grade boards, where knots and uneven grains are already present. Each piece of lumber is unique and carries physical characteristics that may include the following: knots, warping, shrinkage, swelling and/or splitting.

Leva, Yes, once this board has dried enough, it will be ready to accept a stain. We suggest using a stain that contains a wood sealer with a UV protectant, to ensure the longevity of the board.

                What Customers Say
Summarized by generative AI from text of customer reviews

Customers say the lumber from Home Depot varies in quality, with many experiencing issues such as warping, knots, and inconsistent widths. However, some customers appreciate the availability of straight boards and the overall versatility of the wood for various projects. While pricing is generally seen as fair, the need to sift through multiple pieces to find suitable options has been a common pain point. Overall, the product performs well for many applications, but quality control appears to be a concern for some users.

Just one or two more boards to finish a project. I got all of the rest of the wood, screws etc from you as well… several thousand dollars worth, so not sure why I’m getting asked about this one board. All the other boards match the Weathershield listing, though different dimensions. I’ve been rebuilding and upgrading a 30 year old deck, adding ramps for mobility access. Having the bulk of materials delivered was well worth delivery fees.

I am building a kitty house for the winter, I am using these 1x4’s for the framing to keep it light weight. These boards have a tendency to warp, so I am using cedar picket boards for the outside walls. Why do the pine boards warp so badly?

It is lumber. It was straight without knots. I ripped it down the middle and it didn't warp. I used it to hang string for tomato plants. I hope the pressure treatment doesn't contaminate my tomatoes!

I have used a lot of these boards, on numerous projects. I haven't had any problem with splitting, breaking, etc. I do recommend pre-drilling holes before using screws because it is a soft wood. I am currently using various sizes, including this one, to fill in open pallet spaces. Very versatile.

Dear Stv11, we apologize for the inconvenience caused by this product not meeting your expectations. We value your business and understand your frustration. It is important to note that treated wood is typically delivered while still wet. As the lumber dries, it is natural for it to split, cup, and warp. If you would like to discuss this matter further, please feel free to reach out to UFP Retail Solutions at UFPRetailCS@UFPI.com. Our customer service representatives will be more than happy to assist you.

                Kiddie Picnic Table
Had to pick through the 200 or so planks they had on hand to find the sweet ones. Since i was making a picnic table and needed some structural strength, i couldnt risk any knotty or split wood. I found what i needed and the lumber itself was a dream to work with, cut and assemble.

I wanted to have two gates for access to my fenced in back yard. One of the gates is 4 feet wide and the other is 5 feet wide. The 5 foot wide gate allows the riding mower easy access to and from the back yard. Our two dogs have a huge 1/2 acre in which to run and play. The 1X4 PT lumber was perfect for the gate part of the project. Next part of the project is to have split rail fencing in front of the welded wire to have nice curb-side appeal.
