About This Product

Pressure-Treated Pine meets the highest grading standards for strength and appearance. Treated for protection against fungal decay, rot and termites, it is ideal for ground contact and a variety of general uses including exposed structures, sill plates, decks, docks, ramps and other outdoor applications. Responsibly manufactured from renewable southern yellow pine, this lumber is both safe and environmentally friendly when used as directed in appropriate applications. Treated wood is typically still wet when it's delivered to The Home Depot or job site. As it dries, you should expect slight changes in width and length. As lumber dries, it may split, cup and warp. This is more likely to occur to occur in lower-grade boards, where knots and uneven grains are already present. Each piece of lumber is unique and carries physical characteristics that may include the following: knots, warping, shrinkage, swelling and/or splitting. Nominal Dimensions: 1 in. x 6 in. x 10 ft. (Actual Dimensions: 3/4 in. x 5.5 in. x 10 ft.).

Questions & Answers

Is this wood dry enough to finish with waterproofing stain?
ByJul 2, 2026

Answer This Question

Hi TomW, there are many factors that can affect the moisture content of a piece of lumber. We recommend testing the product with a water droplet test.

By|Jul 9, 2026

This is pressure-treated wood. It contains a chemical to prevent rot, mold and insect infestation; a waterproofing stain is not necessary.

Will this work as a fence board for farm fencing?
            ByFeb 26, 2020

            Answer This Question

This board can be used as a fence for farming as long as it is compliant with your local building codes. Please note that this Micronized Copper Azole (MCA) treated lumber is safe to use around animals as long as it is not ingested.

            By|Feb 27, 2020

Yes, it is pressure treated. I take into consideration how high the fence will be. Five feet high would be an efficient use. Otherwise I would consider the fence material available at Home Depot. I believe they are 6 ft long and fairly inexpensive.

Recommend using 12ft rather then 10ft to eliminate any joints. 12ft way it would take 35 boards 16ft long 16ft way it would take 27 boards 12ft long

Product is not too heavy and screws go in easily. The job to replace the deck was simple enough, and the wood is comparable. My only issue is that the wood has a couple of areas where there are holes. Of all the 20 pressure-treated boards, however, only two had a flaw. Overall, the wood is good stock.

                        Poor Quality Control
I ordered 2 pieces for delivery. Got the poorest quality wood: full of knotches and warped. Product cracked at notches. I am extremely DISSATISFIED with this item. I do not recommend delivery. They will dump the unsellable stuff on delivery customers.

Perfect for under porch. I got rid of the trellis. And adding a deck for the pool.

Bought multiple pieces, thickness and width all vary by noticeable amounts. Very disappointing and a waste of money.

If I’m only getting a quantity of lumber that I can self-load onto my trailer, then hand selecting individual boards in the store gets me the straightest, most consistent dimensional pieces. When I order bulk (>50 pcs), the boards are still quality and “good wood”, I just add a small percentage for the severely crowned or splitting/knotty pieces that are inevitable in a pallet purchase. Overall it’s good lumber for the price according to my (personal opinion) comfort level!
