Can I use this wood for a bed frame? I'm new to this kind of stuff

Asked by Travis March 9, 2016

Answer

Hi Travis, you really don't want to use pressure treated lumber for a bed frame. Pressure treated limber is treated with chemicals for out door use. Hard woods to use can be maple, oak, ash, cherry, to name a few. Check the availability of hardwoods at local Home Depot.

will I be able to paint this treated board white?

Asked by TCharles August 11, 2015

Answer

Yes. If you desire to paint pressure-treated wood make sure the wood is dry before application. Pour some water over the surface. If it beads, wait until the board dries; if it is quickly absorbed into the wood, it's ready to be painted.

I cut it to 2 4' pieces for shelves in my work shed. After I installed them I noticed that one end was warped. It is still useable, just unsightly.
