How much will it cost me to build a set of stairs that are 8 ft tall 3 ft wide

Asked by Project March 21, 2021

Answer

Hi Project, That is not a question we can easily answer as the stringers that you'll need to build a set of stairs 8 feet tall would not be a stocked item; it would be a 13-step stringer. Either you or someone familiar with the code requirements for your area would have to construct the stringer(s) from a 2 x 12. You could also ask if ordering the stringers in this special size from the manufacturer is an option. Then you will need the treads. These can be found by entering "pressure treated stair tread" into Home Depot's search box. Please measure from the ground/floor to the top of the landing/deck, in inches to verify the height of what you need. For your materials list, we suggest that you consult with a PRO in the lumber aisle.

the .97 in my are at least is 42 inches but beveled on one side only. not sure its worth the extra $ for another bevel and a little more rounding of said bevel but your mileage may vary.

Nice balusters.. They look great for the rail. I had maybe two or three balusters that could not be used out of 64 (4 packs of 16). I guess that is to be expected given that I didn't personally select the packages but had them shipped. It's difficult to inspect each baluster when they are packaged like this. I'd buy them again.

Bought 5 bundles of 16. Only one bad baluster. Time will tell if they are of good quality.
