About This Product

Pressure-Treated Pine meets the highest grading standards for strength and appearance. This double treated Ground Contact lumber must be used for applications where treated lumber is difficult to maintain, repair or replace. Treated lumber is critical to the performance and safety of an entire system or construction such as deck joists, beams and ledger boards. An additional benefit of treated lumber is its defense against rot and insect infestation for its vast majority of applications. Southern yellow pine is responsibly manufactured, safe, and environmentally friendly when used as directed.Treated wood is typically still wet when it's delivered to The Home Depot or job site. As it dries, you should expect slight changes in width and length. As lumber dries, it may split, cup and warp. This is more likely to occur to occur in lower-grade boards, where knots and uneven grains are already present. Each piece of lumber is unique and carries physical characteristics that may include the following: knots, warping, shrinkage, swelling and/or splitting.

Q:Can you paint with deck over right away after replacing a couple pieces?

    Answer This Question

A:  I would wait for the wood to age 4 months before I painted or stained it

    by|Apr 25, 2023

A:  Jshute, If you desire to paint or stain the treated wood project, it is important that the wood be dry enough to accept a coating. The best way to determine if the wood is sufficiently dry to paint or stain is to sprinkle droplets of water onto the wood. If the water droplets are absorbed, the wood is ready to be painted or stained. If the water droplets bead on the surface of the wood, it is too wet. You should wait a few days before attempting to paint and stain the wood.

              Good product
Worked for Trex deck frame had to bolt it to cement and no cracking after being drilled with the roto Hammer really is solid product good quality wood we'll see how it ages but seemingly so far okay the only thing I would look out for if you're not buying in stores to make sure that the pieces that you receive at the 10-ft length don't have a lot of bow in them as I had to sort quite deep in store for the number boards that I needed.

In stock and exactly what I needed.
Very solid and HD cut the lumber to 3 foot lengths saving a great deal of time. Used to make steps and a small platform around the pool. Worked great and very secure and solid. I took my time selecting the best pieces. The lumber was still wet from the pressure treatment but dried in a day seating in the sun.

Well, we decided to build a COVID hangout in our backyard. A "simple" little DIY platform deck to hang with the kid. Little did we know that hundreds of other people in our area had the same "unique" idea resulting in a pressure treated shortage. I drove to HD every morning to pick out what I could. For the most part, the boards were good. We ended up with one warped and one with a significant knot, both of which I should have caught before purchasing. We chose this over composite deck because we felt that affordable composite looked like plastic and good looking composite was way too expensive. Wood has good grain and looks great

In building a deck these 2x6s work great. They are staright and have minimal warping. The only thing I thy to do is buy them several days before I use them and let them dry a little more so when they completely dry they do not shrink as much. The shrinkage doesnt affect the structural integrity but I like to minimize it when possible.
