About This Product

Pressure-Treated Southern Yellow Pine meets the highest grading standards for strength and appearance. Treated for protection against fungal decay, rot and termites, it is ideal for ground contact and a variety of general uses including exposed structures, sill plates, decks, docks, ramps and other outdoor applications. Responsibly manufactured from renewable southern yellow pine, this lumber is both safe and environmentally friendly when used as directed in appropriate applications.Treated wood is typically still wet when it's delivered to The Home Depot or job site. As it dries, you should expect slight changes in width and length. As lumber dries, it may split, cup and warp. This is more likely to occur to occur in lower-grade boards, where knots and uneven grains are already present. Each piece of lumber is unique and carries physical characteristics that may include the following: knots, warping, shrinkage, swelling and/or splitting.

Q:how many years can you ues this wood out side
      by|Aug 14, 2018

      Answer This Question

A:  This lumber is designed to give professional-grade results that last. Left unfinished, it ages gracefully, eventually softening to an attractive driftwood gray. On flat surfaces such as decks, however, leaves and other debris may collect and create unsightly stains. Even if your lumber has the locked-in protection of factory-applied water repellent, you'll want to follow an annual maintenance program that includes a semitransparent stain or a sealant which contains an ultraviolet stabilizer. If you stain your project, a quality penetrating latex or oil base stain is recommended.

A:  agreeing with previous comment , but adding a constraint. You would want to wait as much as two weeks for the PT wood to cure/dry, depending on environment it is kept in, before applying the stain.

              Nice and clean
Like any wood, most are nice and straight. But as a good consumer, watch for knots snd missing chunks. Terrell Home Depot will normally take the culls back within a day or two with a receipt.
