The Classic Square railing has a 1.34 in. x 2.25 in. molded top rail. a 1.305 in. x 1.352 in. bottom rail and .75 in. square pickets. The Classic Square aluminum railing kit comes ready to assemble and includes all of the brackets and instructions you'll need for installation, making it a perfect solution for the do-it-yourself homeowner and professional contractors or installers.

Does the basic 42 x 96 inch panel modify for stair railings?
Good question, Craig. We actually sell this Classic style of railing in a stair kit as well. Unfortunately, it is not sold on homedepot.com and would likely need to be purchased through the Pro Desk at your local Home Depot Store using the following model # : WBR-J42-A8S. Does it comes with square posts or do I have to buy the posts separately
It does not come with square posts.
This looks like what I might need if it wasn't for the length! I have to do my porches and the ends are only 4'. Even if it could be cut, the remainder would have to be pieced and used on the front section because it's too expensive to waste, and piecing would look terrible! I just don't understand why the company can't make different lengths because everybody has different needs. Any thoughts on this problem appreciated.
Gene - We understand your concern and would love to help. Do you have an exact measurement on the 4' sides? We do carry an 8 ft wide section that you may be able to cut in half and use on each side of the porch. You would just need to purchase an additional bracket set (301644102) as only one set is included in the price of the product. Call us at 855-224-9761 and we can definitely help.

This is called an aluminum railing kit but the product overview says it is made out of vinyl. Which is it?

Can this bear a person's weight? I want to use it on a stair, for my elderly parents. I'm sure they will be leaning on it quite a bit and want to make sure it can take the weight.
This is a railing you will need to Purchase Stair kit and as long as you install the Post securely to the ground & top of the stair.
We use this on the top of our stairway with the posts and the angled railing and it is very sturdy!
