I have not tried this filter yet myself but note that a few people have suggested that it can be reinstalled slightly damp. Personally I would caution against this for the simple reason that if your environment is somewhat dusty or you have pets the dust caught on a damp filter might become muddy and when dry would create a lump that would unduly interfere with air flow. The same for clumps of pet hair. To go British just my ha' penny of thought.
I live in a mobile home (double wide) and it works fine.
They recommend washing it monthly, so that is what I do. I have another filter which I put in while the washable one is drying.
No, buy the size that fits your unit. If it's not in the store buy online. You can have it shipped to the store closest to you and pick up or delivered to your house.

I managed to cut it to fit 10X24 opening. Had to punch some holes to fix the holding pegs...but it works.
