Q:What type of charcoal is best
by|Dec 9, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Hi! We recommend never using charcoal impregnated with charcoal lighter fluid. Any other type of charcoal would work. Weber is here to support you on your grilling journey. Please let us know if you need additional assistance. Thanks!

Q:Can you smoke a 20 lb turkey on it?
    by|Nov 2, 2023
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  Hi Mike! Each model Weber grill has a specific amount of clearance between the surface of the cooking grates and the underside of the lid. For the 14in Smokey Moutain, it is 7.5in. Due to variations in the dimensions of each individual bird, it's usually best to measure the turkey that you intend to cook before you buy it if space on the grill is a concern. Hope this helps!

Q:Can I use only wood logs to cook or do I HAVE to use charcoal as well?

          Answer This Question

A:  Hi Nadia, great question! Wood chips are only to be used on top of regular charcoal. Thanks!

          by|Jul 2, 2024

A:  Yes you can use only wood, but there are consequences. We supplement charcoal with a variety of woods for the smoking. If you use wood logs you will face numerous serious issues. Your fire will be much hotter to screaming hotter than a low charcoal burn. The smoker now becomes a very hot grill. Wood alone burns very inconsistent compared to charcoal, meaning more problems with uneven cook and smoke times. To manage the burn you would want to use small pieces of wood, but now you are feeding the fire every couple of minutes. Hey you just re-invented the pellet smoker, and there is less time for cigars and whiskey because you, not a machine, feed the fire to control it. So I'd say experiment with logs, and I'll also predict such poor results that you will use charcoal. Best wishes for success with your meats.

I love it. It’s a process to use, like other smokers, but you have to enjoy the process. I would buy another or suggest it to anyone.

                Great Smoker
Easy to use and easy to clean. The stock charcoal door is under engineered but there are aftermarket alternatives that do great.

The Cooker Smoker 22" is in a whole new league
After 35 years of experience with the Weber 18" "Bullet", I'm using my new Smokey Mountain Cooker 22" for the first time today. As useful as are the 18" cookers (I have worn out many of them), it it a real treat to have graduated to the 22". Now there will be lots more room for cooking baby back ribs without being concerned that they will touch the sides of the smoker or be on top of each other. The most important improvement, though is the ability to monitor and control cooking temperature. The thermometer at the top is a big help, but better still is the rubber covered port for inserting thermometers to measure both food and cooking temperatures. Today I'm smoking pork shoulder and stuffed flank steak roulades, and I'm confident I'll know when they're done but not overcooked. Can't wait to taste the food!

                Weber Smokey Mountain 22.5
Great cooker! My favorite cooks are ribs and pork butt. I have also done a brisket on the grill and everything came out well. It's very user friendly. Once you get the vents set up right, it's on auto pilot.
