Q:Why is this more expensive than the D1800 series (28 ft. Aluminum D-Rung Equalizer Extension Ladder with 250 lb. Load Capacity Type I Duty Rating) when it seems only to have fewer features (no leveling legs)?

A:  Yes, but you may have to remove the rear windshield in order to accommodate it, bring a hammer or you can purchase one at The Home Depot.

Good sturdy ladder for the most part only issue is the latches that lock the ladder on the step are cheaply mounted, after one use it bent and made it a pai to slide up and down. I'll have to dismantle it and reinforce the mounting spot

                    A good workout
It’s kinda awkward to get up on the house, but relatively easy to expand for reaching the second floor of my house.

Biggest ladder one man should dance with.
I like the ladder alot. I'm 6"4 180 lbs. I'm am barely tall enough to stand this thing vertical by myself. Bringing it down takes some caution and practice but I've been using it every day for three weeks now at all the heights and I'm happy.

Type 1A is good, but Fiberglass is still much better
First off, Fiberglass ladders are much stronger and safer. Honestly nobody except professional painters should be using Aluminum ladders!!! I did buy a 20 foot type 1A (300 pound rating) aluminum ladder so I could leave it on my truck ladder rack for very occasional use not near electricity. For example; new construction with no overhead power lines. For most jobs I know I need a ladder, I would bring a Fiberglass ladder instead. As for my Werner 20 ft type 1A its a solid ladder, much better than type 3/2/1. Both sections are full width. The extension pulls off and can be used as a separate ladder(although the feet are not super, id tie off the base). I had to modify the position of the bottom brackets a little because the ladder would not work in the fully closed position. The fist one I ordered arrived damaged and I had to wait another 2 weeks for a second one. Price is a bit high, but it will last forever unless it gets run over by a tractor.

This ladder is put together backwards. The rungs face away from each other. Both sections should have a tilt to the rungs facing in the same direction. These face in opposite directions. Sadly disappointed in Werner's quality control. You can't swap them around either because the slide supports are riveted in the wrong direction so the only way to use the extension is to use it with rungs facing in both directions. The bottom section faces away from the user. The upper section faces towards the user. Very bad quality control and probably a safety issue. Werner may end up with some lawsuits over this one...I wonder how many made it our of the factory that way.

I had a werner 24' fiberglass extension ladder for 15 years. I used the heck out of it. After the Texas SNOWVID-21 storm in February, I had to take down 40 branches. Dang, lugging that ladder around was a workout over a week. I sold the fiberglass ladder online and purchased the Werner 20ft aluminum extension ladder. The aluminum ladder will carry all possible loads that I would need. It is super light. I can lift it over my head easily - like 30 lbs. I noticed that everything was just a bit lighter than the previous ladder, but still, I am satisfied with the quality and stability. I finished off some branches, etc. with no problem. Moreover, I hung that ladder from the garage ceiling easily. I feel confident it won't fall. I was not comfortable hanging the previous ladder for fear of falling on my head, even though my hooks were strong enough. I don't think about the new ladder overhead at all. Good product for my use case. Loyal Werner customer. (Have yet a 3rd step ladder also).

                          Not safe
I purchased this ladder 6 months ago-used about three times to clean gutters-My fourth attempt to use I stepped on the bottom step and it broke completely off at the weld! I weigh 130 pounds so I'm definitely not near it's capacity. Two emails and a phone call to Werner have gotten zero response-trip to Home Depot to explain my problem was met with a "you have to call Werner if it's past 90 days". Fortunately it was the bottom step that broke-I am now afraid to go up on it though. I'm not positive this is the same one I purchased. Mine cost more and had green plastic pieces instead of red.

                            1) Not heavy. 2) The right hand side of the rungs on the extension ladder are higher than the left hand side that can cause the load or weight to slide to the left. 3)The left hand side spring loaded lock comes in contact with rung of the main ladder when put in lock position which is transferring the load from the extension ladder to the main ladder while the right hand side spring loaded lock does not. This situation puts a lot more of the weight and stress to the right side of the ladder specially the left leg which was designed to carry only half of it.
