Questions & Answers

How high will this 24ft ladder extend up to...?

Asked by Sarge May 30, 2021

The ladder was bent when it arrived. It's very sturdy to use on the first story of my home. I extended to the second story and got scared because the bend caused it to be noticeably unstable. Can't prove that it was delivered this way, so I've got to pay someone to clean my gutters still. Disappointed.

Where can I buy replacement non slip pads for the ladder?

Asked by Ed May 15, 2021

Please contact Customer Care at 888-523-3371, with your model number and mark/mk number. This is needed to identify the replacement part needed.

Ladder Overlap and Stability

Asked by Chesapeake October 14, 2020

I’ve owned and used 20’, 24’ and 32’ fiberglass type IA ladders. I’ve never felt a lack of stability due to the ladder being fully extended. I bought the 20’ ladder to get up on my flat roof 10’ 10” above the deck from which I access it, setting the ladder at 72 degrees and allowing the ladder to extend 3’ beyond the roof. I had been using a 14’ ladder which reached just below the edge of the roof. A 16’ would not have not have provided the recomended 3’ beyond the edge. Extra length just gives you more weight and bulk to wrestle with and store.

what is the weight of the ladder

Asked by craig September 30, 2020

Model # D5920-2 weighs approximately 33 lbs.

how long is ladder before extending it

Asked by Karen September 29, 2020

Model # D6240-2, approximate closed is 20'.

Can this be used as a “bridge” between two elevated areas? Will it support your weight (ie 200lbs) if you lay it horizontally?

Asked by Bryan September 18, 2020

Model # D6220-2, CANNOT BE USED IN THIS MANNER, DO NOT USE. Please contact Customer Care at 888-523-3371.

What is the maximum working length of this ladder?

Asked by bob August 8, 2020

Model # D5920-2, Max. Safe Working Height is 17 ft.

Used 3 times, has cracks -- Werner says no warranty sucks for you
Bought this ladder new in 2019 to reach second story gutters to clean them once a year. Professional gutter cleaning was $300 each time so it seemed like spending $400 on a ladder to DIY was a worthy investment. Got up to use it recently (this would be the 3rd time) and I noticed what looked like a crack near the 4th rung of the extension. Not a good feeling at 20 feet up. Got down, sent photos over to Werner who said it's a fiberglass bloom. I explained I can hook my fingernail on/under it and they replied sorry, not a defect and no warranty. Never dropped it or hit it with anything. It never fell over. Out $400 on a ladder that's been used 3 times sucks but I guess lesson learned. I'll back to aluminum. Other than the crack it's a good ladder.

Bevel the edges on the external guide brackets!
I mean it's a pretty good ladder but I'm giving it one star because seriously, why aren't the external guide brackets beveled?!? When I go up or down the ladder, I usually grab the stiles rather than rungs where everybody puts their muddy feet - but I have scraped my hand to the point of bleeding so many times just because the external guide brackets are freaking edge sharp. Where were the freaking engineers??? Werner should have hired me cause the brackets would be beveled to prevent unnecessary scrapes all the time.

Safe and Sturdy Ladder
I ordered this ladder online for delivery. It was delivered the next day and the delivery experience was top notch. The ladder is not nearly as heavy as I thought, and I am able to carry and setup the ladder by myself. I purchased my fist two story home last year and its a problem not being able to reach the roof with my 12 foot extension ladder. I needed to clean the gutters on the second story and wanted to paint the upper story. I was able to clean out the gutters. Climbing the ladder the first time was a bit scary, but I got use to it. I don't think I will try to paint, because there is a lot of area that I can't reach or I don't have enough room to safely position the ladder. I did not immediately figure out how to use the rope/pully to raise the ladder, so I just did it manually. I watched a wernerco.com video for this model and figured out how to raise and lower the ladder using the rope/pully and it is easy to do, you just need some good hand strength to start the pull.

Dont stand behind their product!
I purchased the 24ft fiberglass at home depot about 1.5 years ago. I have used this ladder a total of 5 times. I keep stored out of elements while not in use. Ladder has never been dropped. It is now warped and cannot be fixed or replaced or Werner. Look elsewhere if you want something that will hold up.

Sturdy and safe. A little too heavy to be handled by one person but has a great reach.

defective ladder
buy a ladder of these 6 months ago, it started to break, obviously it is a factory defect. I contacted the company and they told me that they do not become responsible for repairing it or changing it to me very annoying. They sayd. I have checked the pictures that you forwarded. Unfortunately, these type of damage cannot be repaired by recoating the ladder. Recoating can prevent the ladder to get exposed to elements that eventually leads to compromising the fiberglass material of the ladder - thus, resulting it to be brittle and crack. Fiberglass is a heavy duty material and does not crack easily. Cracks on the rails of a fiberglass ladder is usually a result of an outside force/weight that hit the ladder. Also, the rails are not replaceable so the ladder is now beyond repair. Dont buy this produc.

WATCH OUT for ladders sold at the Kyle, TX. store! Many ladders are used being sold as new! One was used long enough to have someone's name on the side with a magic marker. See image. Others have mud and grass on the foot of the ladder. I checked these out after receiving a ladder that was scarred all over and filthy.

I bought this ladder online for work on a two story home. It arrived at midnight in an unmarked truck. The next morning, a thorough inspection revealed that one of the aluminum rungs had been destroyed and was ripped. Home depot offered to send a truck back in a week, or I could take it to a nearby store for return. I was able to get it back to the store. They offered my 10% discount for a reorder. The new ladder arrived in a week and had broken side-rails. I don't know where the problem is; Bad Werner ladders, poor shipping or poor storage at the Home depot warehouse.
